Today, I’m announcing something new to fight back against Donald Trump and his attacks on our democracy.
I’m launching Back the Bold Political Action Committee. The mission is straightforward: to back leaders with the courage to say what needs to be said, do what needs to be done, and hold Donald Trump and his administration accountable. That means supporting Democrats and Independents who refuse to flinch.
I’m no stranger to this fight. I voted to impeach Donald Trump. I served on the January 6th Commission. I did both because I believe there are lines that cannot be crossed in a democracy and Donald Trump crossed them. That wasn’t a political calculation. It was a matter of principle.
What we are witnessing today in the United States Congress is a failure of leadership. Elected officials are enabling Trump’s assault on our democratic institutions, enabling his policies driving prices higher for working families, enabling his reckless foreign policy, and enabling his worst instincts, unchecked.
That must end.
We’ve built this Substack community together. Here, we cut through the noise. We call it as it is. We don’t bend to political pressure or reframe the truth to suit whoever is in power. That doesn’t change. We will continue to build.
Back the Bold simply gives us another weapon — another way to fight from the inside out.
We are at a crossroads. 2026 is an inflection point for what kind of country we want to be. Do we go quiet and hope for the best? Or do we step forward, bold and clear-eyed, and win this moment, not just for ourselves, but for the generation that inherits what we leave behind?
