Love that story. A symbol of “we the people” will decide.

Trump and his minions never cease to embarrass us.

LeeDoza's avatar

BUT 50% of you voted for him, because you believe all his crap. I do hope you are following #LauraLoomer trip to #KYIV #UKRAINE ... she is learning just how badly she was programmed to believe LIES. ....and she doesn't like it. Other MAGA can learn just as well. So keep following ADAM and share Laura. #slavaukraini

Never in my lifetime vote for the female abuser, he’s as evil as one can get. He followers don’t do their homework they didn’t try. They believed his lies and if you lived on the East Coast in the 80s and 90s, you knew what kind of slimeball he is and was.

I DID NOT VOTE FOR THE BASTARD--ANY OF THE TIMES HE RAN (2 OR 3). I GOT DRAGGED INTO THE SWAMPY, SHIT SHOW EVEN THOUGH I VOTED AGAINST HIM!

I think it’s poignant that the Emergency Exit gets you into Canada.🍁

No kidding. The symbolism isn’t lost on those of us who are paying attention to what is going on. Canada is making git easier for Americans with Canadian relatives to become citizens. I wish they would do the same for the rest of us.

Alternatively, I’d vote to make California the 11th province of Canada. Add the rest of the blue states, and Trump would lose every money making states in the US.

Diane J's avatar

I'm hoping the same for Michigan. Over my 80+ years I've enjoyed using the tunnel, the bridges, both Ambassador and Blue Water, to visit beautiful Canada and this malignant creature soiling our White House must be ejected so our friendship with Canada can continue

Aspenwood's avatar

With Mark Carney at the helm, I as a Californian would vote for that! And let's include our fellow NW states as well - Washington and Oregon.

It may be time to graduate from the eternal high school that is the USA.

Wrong. The eternal kindergarten homeschool

And if Canada wanted to have its own space launch site and aircraft test fields, Vandenberg and Edwards would be theirs for the taking.

Liz R's avatar

Haha! I didn’t pick up on that. If I’d known, I’d have used it long ago!

Thank you, Adam. What a lovely story. We all needed a smile today and you supplied it.

Wonderful!! That IS good news! Picking fights with Canada is stupid and absurd!

Sally S's avatar

Picking fights with any country is stupid!

Aspenwood's avatar

Look at the fight DT picked with Iran! Stupid

Jan's avatar

Treating a country that’s been as friendly to us as Canada. for so many years is illogical, stupid, and insane.

Skepticat's avatar

Which is par for the course for this maladministration. A Mainer with Canadian forebears and many Canadian friends, I qualify for Canadian citizenship but probably am too old to survive the application process.

Jude's avatar

Good news for the rest of us, though, Skepticat -- we need you here! :-)

Skepticat's avatar

Thank you for the kind words.

Gin's avatar

Never too old. Get that Canadian citizenship.

Whenever I go to Canada, I apologize for our government’s behavior. They all respond and say they know it’s not all of us.

Nikki M.'s avatar

I was just in Peru on a remote trek and ran into Canadians on the trail from Alberta. As an American I also felt compelled to apologize immediately, confirm I’m not MAGA. It’s so embarrassing honestly. They also said they knew it wasn’t all Americans and they are very concerned about our future. But when I met locals and they asked where we were from. I point near the border of Canada 😅 Everybody loves Canada.

Liz R's avatar

Isn’t it sad to be ashamed and afraid to say we’re Americans?

Nikki M.'s avatar

I’m ashamed we as a country voted this guy back into power. That is absolutely humiliating.

Laurie Denise's avatar

It sure is. I’ve been saying this since he got elected the first time. Can’t stand him. Who in their right mind would elect a convicted felon as president? It’s just crazy how people can be so stupid.

Judi Davey's avatar

We are better people than Trump wants us to be . . . too bad DonJohn.

Lovely story. Thank you, Adam. I live in Michigan, and have always thought of Canada one of our best allies. We went there on our Honeymoon, and on many vacations too. It is beautiful country and so are its citizens. It’s so upsetting that Trump is treating them badly for no good reason. It’s truly despicable and I can’t wait until we get Trump & his entire cabinet out of office.

Phil Cordeau's avatar

That is good news indeed. On both sides, we have to remember that Washington does not represent all the people.

Wesley Steen's avatar

Thanks. I needed THAT!!!!!!

This is so cool. It’s unfortunate that we learn about the library due to our goof ball president but I had never heard of it . Next time I’m in Vermont I will visit. Thank you Adam for sharing this!

Doris's avatar

Thanks Adam. This story made my heart happy. A rare thing these days, at least when thinking about our politics.

Joan Fregapane's avatar

What a wonderful little story! Yes, this ridiculous demagogue in DC will leave & be replaced by a real citizen of the earth, but in the meantime, friends don’t allow friends to be excluded.

Jim Taylor's avatar

I lived 25 mi from Canada (Bellingham WA) as a kid growing up. Parents of friends worked over there. Some lived over there and taught at our local university.

Going to Canada was like going to the next town over. Before 9-11 YOU COULD ENTER WITH A DRIVERS LICENSE for God’s sake. If you were a regular commuter across the border you could get an express pass so just drive past customs, didn’t even have to stop. Still today you can fly your private plane to a low usage checkpoint, pick up the phone and talk to their agent, cleared right there.

Everyone in TrumpWorld is an enemy. It must be a terrible way to live. Just as the World Cup proved, if it weren’t for the politicians, the world would get along pretty well.

I needed this today. I am an expatriate Canadian who moved to the United States in 1991. My family and friends are still mostly up there. I don’t think that many people in the US realize just how angry Canadians are, and how betrayed they feel. The damage the Trump Administration has done to relations between the two countries will take a long time to repair………..if it can ever be fixed.

And no, I’m not being hyperbolic in making that statement.

Paul Schlotthauer's avatar

That's what I'm afraid of--that even when Trump is gone and we have a normal president again, Canada won't be able to trust us fully because, if we elected someone like that evil, fascist slob twice, we might do so yet again. I don't trust many of my fellow citizens anymore, so why should Canadians? I can only hope that someday--though it might take a generation--we can truly repair the breach. And, yes, many Americans do realize how angry Canadians are, because all we need to do is put ourselves in their position--we'd be absolutely incandescent with rage! If I were Canadian I would refuse to set foot over the border while that piece of garbage is in the White House.
