If the handling of the classified material found at Mar-A-Lago had been handled according to the laws on our nation, this never would happened. Those downplaying that security compromise are totally complicit in this egregious security failure…

Washington Post: “The Social Security Administration website crashed four times in 10 days this month, blocking millions of retirees and disabled Americans from logging in to their online accounts because the servers were overloaded. “And the phones keep ringing and ringing.”

Endless irritating events day after day. Why don't they just drop a bomb on us and get it over with. Maybe that will finally make MAGA happy! Oh by the way:

NEXT MAJOR PROTEST: April 5th on a Saturday 50 Protests + 50 States https://bsky.app/profile/50501movement.bsky.social

Semper Liber's avatar

An abrupt shutdown of Social Security will be catastrophic. causing human suffering on a scale not seen since the Great Depression. Millions of American people will be forced into poverty, homelessness, and hunger virtually overnight. Crime, desperation, and suicide rates will explode.

The truth is laid bare—this is not governance, but predation. When leaders prioritize personal profit over human survival, when they slash lifelines with no remorse, no plan, no empathy, they reveal a savage indifference to the people they swore to serve.

This is not just policy failure—it is moral bankruptcy.

Catherine Cherry's avatar

Agreed, and from everything I can see, this regime is very happy for that to be the case. I've seen no evidence whatsoever that they care about the life or wellbeing of any citizen other than the inner circle or those who can be useful in profiteering.

It's Come To This's avatar

The former head of the Social Security Administration, Martin O'Malley, predicts a near-total breakdown within 90 days of the current shitshow.

Think of that. A former head of SSA watching all this catastrophic nonsense unfold, predicts the system --- at least insofar as human services go --- will suffer a breakdown because of the actions of this administration.

Semper Liber's avatar

And they won't miss a wink of sleep when it happens

Semper Liber's avatar

"Endless irritating events day after day. Why don't they just drop a bomb on us and get it over with. Maybe that will finally make MAGA happy!" Right now, we should be planning for the future—saving for our children’s education, dreaming of family vacations, building careers and retirement plans with confidence. Instead, we are forced to consider darker questions: Will our rights be stripped away? Will we have to flee to stay safe? Is this the week the next crisis hits?

The Democrats and the judicial system would have to be A LOT more responsive than they were the last time!

As though a cumbersome system would just be too much of a pain in the ass. So why not send sensitive information right out in the open? So what if it could jeopardize our armed forces! Honestly -

Deb M. (MN)'s avatar

You are being so polite, “Ass” is an understatement. trump is Satan Incarnate and far to many republicans are his spawn.

Alecia Stevens's avatar

Shouldn’t the Dems / everyone be demanding resignations and terminations? Not just investigations???

Richard Breining's avatar

In normal times, this would be appropriate. These are not normal times. No Republicans (trumplicans) are going to demand resignations and terminations. The Democrats and everyone else can make these demands, but those same Republicans (trumplicans) will ensure that our demands are ignored.

Paul Olmsted's avatar

On the contrary- I’m expecting t-Rump to award the perpetrators of this fiasco with The Presidential Medal of Freedom.

We demanded resignations and terminations after Jan 6 and all we got was a trump sequel. I am so tired and frustrated at feeling impotent. These people work for us. We hired them to represent our interests and after they kiss our asses for donations and votes, we are so beneath them they won’t even take a phone call. Trump and Musk are dangerous. People are dying - suspiciously. Can’t leave the country because other countries have made it clear - they don’t want us. We have a Second Amendment that gives the right to bear arms FOR TIMES LIKE THIS RIGHT NOW. When our government has gone rogue. I want these people gone but I have no power and let’s face it - millions of us together have no power. I don’t want another investigation. I want a trial and a conviction and a sentence before the muskrat and his thugs come to my door.

Adam - what are we supposed to do? Wait on the Democrats? Wait on the Calvary to protect us? Or wait on martial law to lock us up for speaking up? I worked for the IG at DHS in Investigations. If they see my Facebook I know I’m getting a visit. But I’ll be damned if I will stay quiet.

and yet there are a significant portion of Americans who still support this and believe every rationalization they give for any mistakes made or demonize the person who reports it. Hegseth's response to a question about this was dismissive and used propaganda adjectives to describe the journalist who was welcomed into the chat. I was on a chat that has all types of political persuasions and the maga's were saying the reporting is fake and false or Dems fake news.

Kat Hudy's avatar

Just wait until they can’t afford anything, then they’ll scream their heads off. Right now they are getting their money, but not for much longer.

Barbara Skadberg Chavez's avatar

I'm so with you, Sheryl. I wrote a note to Adam just a moment ago about the very same thing. If I hadn't attended the Bernie and AOC rally in Denver recently, I would be even more depressed.

AnonC's avatar

I would like to learn about some concrete steps we can take, in addition to continuing to hound the invertebrates in congress. Yes, I know, VOTE the bastards out of office at the midterms, but really, we need action now.

AOC and Bernie, as much as we might like/dislike them and agree/disagree with what they say, are the WRONG people to be carrying this message---tRumpf voters will never listen to them. Instead we need centrists who can get interviewed on Fux news and other such outlets and get the actual ear of some significant segment of the deluded, ignorant voters who voted for the Manchurian Canteloupe. Only when those people get some actual information and begin to process how profoundly they have been hoodwinked, will there be voters to vote in a better congress.

But between now and then what actions can be taken? I would like to hear.

sean malee's avatar

I don’t think “centrist” is a term that applies to the current political landscape. I get what you’re saying, but take issue with the idea that left and right are represented in the current body politic. These people are off the axis! I am hoping for a new generation of political leaders who refuse to be categorized by the tropes and lies that we are fed. Politics for regular people. Support for working families, support for the middle class. Reasonable controls on business. Appropriate taxation of billionaires and corporations so that they pay their fair share of taxes. Healthcare that doesn’t leave families bankrupt. Money OUT OF ELECTIONS. This isn’t left or right. It is simply correct.

Start with going to www.mobilize.us and see what is happening in your area. Contact your local Democratic office or local Indivisible chapter. There are tons of things going on! Look up 5 calls app which guides you through calling your Reps/Senators. Find out who is your local State Rep/Senator and call them as a lot of what is happening in Washington (DOGE) is starting to happen in States. I call my US Senators and Reps every week.

Laura's avatar

I love your question and eager to hear what people think. I am doing the following with my family.

I think joining the April 5 Hands Off March on Washington DC is a super positive thing to do. Search that or look on mobilize.us

If you cannot get to DC on April 5, there are sister protests going on in every state that day, somewhere near you and all of us!

I am planning to host a sign making, post card -writing gathering at my home prior to this.

Everywhere I go, I get into conversations about this and have the chance to show people the 5 Calls App and help them download.

We post info in front re rallies, 5 Calls, key actions.

We attemd indivisible.org rallies

I bought some basic post cards, blank, and a pulled out my fun pens. I got a postcard list from Activate America and on a topic to help folks re Medicaid and am writing and sending the postcards.

I am talking to anyone I come across and encouraging people to take even small actions daily or regularly.

I donate most days bigger or smaller amounts to democracy forward, ACLU, Country First, local immigrant organization and a lot of Act Blue donations and petitions to support Democrats in these special elections and democrats who are speaking out such as Sen Chris Murphy, Sanders, AOC, Maxwell Frost, etc

Writing a song about this hope to perform at a local community event

planning a local run for democracy

planning a local bike for democracy

planning a bbq/ music jam/ postcard writing party

emailing Senators and house reps through their websites

ordering and wearing cool tshirts such as Indvisible, Gulf of Mexico etc

posting

substack subscriptions to Adam, Aaron Parnas, etc

Subscribed to Democracy Docket .com

Staying healthy working out, sunshine, gratitude, and refusing to let this into my mind too far. Staying positive. As Adam said, happy warrior.

Prayers for our country. Grateful to Adam and blessings to you all!!

AnonC's avatar

Thanks for this list! I do email and call the reps/sens, about every week, but it seems to have no effect. On the other hand, if EVERYONE called/wrote weekly, they'd be flooded, and that might work better. So I'll keep it up and hope others will keep on and more will join in, too.

Catherine Cherry's avatar

There will be no real midterm elections. That is why Trump is currently setting up the rhetoric around "we have very fraudulent and corrupt elections". So he will "fix" the system, then every election hence will be rigged. Just like Russia and so many other countries with authoritarian regimes. If you want to know what to do, you need to start researching how other countries overthrew THEIR corrupt governments.

Josephine's avatar

I'm likin' the rogue look for myself -

Maria K.'s avatar

They are in the minority. Oh, I've written to my two Republican senators (no, I did not vote for them), with the link to the Atlantic article about this and a note "This is what you voted for during Hegseth confirmation - are we great yet?". And I do advise we keep flooding them with stuff like that - maybe one of them decides to grow a spine or something. But as long as the GOP controls all branches of the government, our options are limited. I don't think it will sink in until Russians land in Alaska.

Lynette Crain's avatar

Laura's avatar

Kat Hudy's avatar

Ellen Brown's avatar

The hypocrisy should not be overlooked. We knew a man who kept documents in a bathroom in his house and waved confidential information around at a party wasn’t presidential material. All of this BS about removing security clearances from people when they should be removing them from their own cabinet members. The President’s comment is only to show disdain for The Atlantic. He should be kissing Jeffrey Goldberg’s feet.

It's Come To This's avatar

The first thing that demented fraud did was to attack The Atlantic. What a fucking loser, incompetent, irresponsible fraud. What an obvious corroboration of EVERYTHING Jeff Goldberg said.

Theresa McGinness's avatar

They should be thanking Goldberg for alerting everyone to this outrageous lapse. He did not divulge anything sensitive as he knows better than those in the group chat. This likely is business as usual for this bunch. Too bad it wasn't in emails... "Lock 'em up!"

Kimberlie Hammerschmidt's avatar

My husband as a group commander would have been fired! No cel phones in the scif (sp)?. He can't bring his computer and work outside the country with his job right now because he works indirectly for the government and it's not even top secret stuff. God help us with this incompetent senior officials

Marilyn D's avatar

You have been mild in your description of these Keystone Kops... they are a clear and present danger....

Steve Ireland's avatar

The idea of Trump, and his team of clowns, being held accountable for anything, is laughable. The DOJ is now Trump’s personal police force and soon the Judicial system will be rendered impotent.

Richard Breining's avatar

Possibly. But I pray that the Judicial system, including SCOTUS, recognizes what is happening and will issue rulings that defend and preserve our Constitutional Federal Republic (democracy).

Catherine Cherry's avatar

They will be dismantled inside 6 months. If Trump says "no more judicial system that looks like this", and they are removed, there is nothing they can do. That is the point of this whole exercise. Or just be like Russia, where they have all the trappings, but when is Putin ever prosecuted for the endless things he does? He's been doing it for 25 years unscathed.

Richard Breining's avatar

If that happens (and I hope it is not successful if trump tries), then the only recourse to save our Constitutional Federal Republic is Civil War!

Theresa N's avatar

Trump will downplay this and the media here and around the world need to keep this story in the headlines, no matter how desperately he and his cronies want to distract us 24/7!

Justin Bradley's avatar

I give it 24 hours before the news cycle has moved on to some other, potentially more outrageous violation of the public trust committed by this administration, and the legacy media will happily sweep it aside like everything else before it. Shame.

Richard Breining's avatar

With so many corrupt and likely illegal misAdministrative actions being taken on an hour-by-hour basis, it is no wonder that anyone, the media included, can maintain focus on any single one of them for long.

Sigrid Mosmann's avatar

Maybe he'll try to annex Greenland or something ..... it's remarkable - everything Trump touches withers and dies - the man really does have a knack ....

Rosanne Masone's avatar

So knowing how serious this is, what a violation this is, there must be actions taken by judges, or whoever else has any power to bring these men to justice. They should be indicted they should be impeached they should be removed from our government! This cannot be swept under the rug. This is absurd. Please tell me you’re planning some kind of action.

Justin Bradley's avatar

Yes. Yes, yes, and yes. But will they? Nope.

Maybe I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed today, but I have lost all faith and any expectation that anything even approaching justice will ever materialize in regard to anyone in this administration.

Barbara Skadberg Chavez's avatar

I'm losing faith, too. In fact, I have lost faith. A move to Europe sounds good.

JMull's avatar

It sounds good to get the heck out, but we will need every good honest patriot to help rid the country of these drunk and high on power posers.

AnonC's avatar

As long as we insist on continuing to vote.

Rosanne Masone's avatar

I’d hate to say this, but I tend to think you’re right. I don’t quite understand it however this is what I am seeing also! He gets a pass on everything is fear also driving common sense and the rule of law?

It's Come To This's avatar

Anybody who's ever had a security clearance has it drilled into their heads that classified and unclassified computer, phone, information systems are NEVER stored, shared, blended, mixed-up together. At even lower levels of classification, they're not even in the same room -- precisely to prevent security breaches. You have access to such systems only at your level of clearance, never above, and then ONLY on a 'need to know basis.' Higher-level intel, operations planning, targets, systems are NEVER shared outside a SCIF. You can't even bring a cell phone or an Apple Watch into a SCIF. You can't take notes, let alone text little power emojis to your 'bro' pals. You take nothing in, you bring nothing out.

And nobody without an active security clearance can ever be "looped in" to the most classified briefing imaginable. It would be like President Obama texting the publisher of the New York Times with "hey, get this: we're about to take out Bin Laden, stay tuned." Or worse, brought him into the planning room without his (or anybody else's) knowledge or consent.

In the middle of this unimaginable clusterfuck, the Little Maybelline Bitch blurts out that he wasn't sure "how much POTUS is aware of this." I cannot imagine a greater, more impeachable offense than to be so illiterate, so incurious, so incompetent, so out of it, and so unqualified to be CINC that you had no idea American personnel who report to YOU are about to start a top-secret attack supposedly on your orders.

These morons and bumblefucks aren't fit to run a hamburger joint, let alone direct national security. Had Republicans a single ball between 'em, impeachment proceedings against the whole lot should already have started.

Ilene Bilenky's avatar

I have called my reps, unable to reach my R Rep. Hardy phone message or email. I called my Dem. Senators about the national security issue. Although it's not a party thing (I am registered Independent, never voted R in my life- Nixon and choice!) I am a retired RN, MPH, and US Army Reserves medical officer ( as I always tell them). I tell them that it's not a party issue, it's a fascism issue, although I have long (and well informed) believed that musk/trump, if not Russian assets, are certainly aligned. I hope people call their R senators especially, there are Senate hearings today.

AnonC's avatar

I have called and called and the yahoos who supposedly represent me (NOT) are out to lunch. In more ways than one.

Also, I have watched about a dozen prior military and intelligence officers that have worked under multiple administrations and I haven't heard why the journalist was added... I mean, I usually know who I add to my group chats. I think we need to know the answer to that

AnonC's avatar

Look, we should be thanking god he was added! Otherwise this and how many other of their little chats would have gone unnoticed. Maybe there's a secret patriot on the list after all who sees how insane it has gotten.

Richard Breining's avatar

I agree. In fact, I suspect that they have been using Signal to communicate with each other about anything and everything -especially, if, as Adam indicates, it avoids being entered into the Federal historical record. That would be a good way to prevent evidence from ever being found in the event of a criminal proceeding.

I don't know that for a fact, but I wouldn't be surprised.

I am old when it comes to internet use but I understand from what I saw from a friend’s post that the data on this server could be wiped clean and not be used in a court of law. Could it be that someone sent this to Geoffrey Goldberg on purpose to bring this issue out into the open. I have also read and I can’t corroborate this but it is something that came out of project 2025. Somebody please enlighten me further

It's Come To This's avatar

It is totally possible, since at this moment the National Security Advisor is testifying under oath at the Senate that he "does not know" how a journalist without a security clearance was brought into the most classified discussion imaginable. Of course, lying Tulsi Gabbard says there was "discussion around targets" but of course, she can't remember "specific weapons systems." Lots of suddenly very forgetful and clueless people.
