We could end homelessness and food insecurity in this Country and instead we are funding tRump's ICE/SS goons wandering the streets deporting working, taxpaying people and kids. There is a great Dickensian novel waiting to be written about this age in America.
Oh yes... SECOND that and THIRD it... His latest project is renewing our faith in America. And I think this platform works very well for his multi media type of sharing. I myself don't 'do videos' or podcasts.. the words slip by too fast and I want to be able to share them. With his SUBSTACK you can do both, as all of his PODCASTS are fully transcibed... and I share the headers and topics on my FB page every day so others will know that he is connecting one Voter at a time. He doesn't need a new party like Peter Magyar in Hungary did, he just needs to connect all the PURPLE VOTERS. Ones who want a real democracy for every American no matter their party or race or sex.

I commend these young people for recognizing the need in their community & acting on it. But we, as a society, must recognize that especially in this country, the richest country in the world, it is an intentional act of the powers that be to keep people in their place through food insecurity. It is a means of control by authoritarians both here and around the globe. We produce more food in the world than could ever be consumed by its inhabitants. We choose to not feed the populace. What a sad commentary on our world.
What a wonderful and heartwarming story! It is also timely for me, since food insecurity has been a major topic of conversation with my husband recently. Since his retirement 12 years ago (in his 50’s, so he had/has lots of stamina), he has run the food pantry at our church. Since Trump retuned to power, the need has exploded. This is a pantry that has been in existence for 40 years. While that may seem like a good thing, my husband regards it as a failure of our nation to provide basic necessities to people. He continues to believe that a better solution is to increase programs like SNAP. We have purchased gift cards to local grocery stores to give people the dignity of doing their own shopping and choosing their own food, rather than relying exclusively on “handouts,” which seems so demoralizing. I would love to see a nationwide movement that pushes back on tax cuts (and endless other ways the super wealthy avoid contributing to society) and advocates for providing basic services for low income people, given in ways that do not shame them.
I applaud the intention to regularly post "positive news," but I wish these posts were about politics too, as most of your other posts are. Too many people today cynically reject politics as a whole for democracy to be able to thrive.
We urgently need people to understand that a tremendous amount of good has been achieved by ALL of us working together to empower Representatives who hold the executive branch to account, expose misdeeds, and pass bills that benefit the 99%.
The fact that today, those politicians happen to be mostly Democrats shouldn't stop us from spreading the good news.
Yes, at the same time, people continue to volunteer, and that also proves how decent most citizens are, deep down. But charity will always exist. We cannot let the fate of less fortunate citizens depend on it though, we need to provide them with real security, which only comes when Congress passes bills that protect against misfortune. And time and again, Democrats have done exactly that - for decades now.
Imho, especially former Republicans have the responsibility, today (= when a neofascist GOP is destroying the US Constitution) to point that out, because it's precisely GOP lies that made people so cynical in the first place (and then turn away from it altogether).
If we want to restore democracy, we urgently need to focus on what democracy gets right as a political system. Fortunately, that's a lot of things, so it shouldn't be difficult to find examples, once a week.

Yep, the kids are going to be all right. After working years in public schools, I've seen amazing teens doing amazing things. We're going to be okay.
