Thank you 🙏 yet again, Adam, for another uplifting story. I’ve worked in two middle schools for a total of twelve years and I also see the goodness of kids today. A lot of folks talk bad about them, but I disagree. The great majority are like Ryder!
YouTube has many news channels showing the same short video. The only one that stood out? The short Fox video.
Its headline: "He stood his ground!".
Even when a kid courageously cultivates fierce kindness, the insecure Fox "men" need to turn it into a narrative where suddenly that kid seems to be the victim of a huge attack and then uses his testosterone to "defend" himself against it. And of course, the headline ignores the fact that it was TEAMWORK that saved the boy. Just like it was teamwork that made Spain the winner of the World Cup.
Meanwhile, Fox Sunday anchor Hegseth is firing tons of the bravest young (and older) Americans in the military, only because they are pro-democracy (starting with those who are not white or male).
If THIS is the poison you're fed each and every day, and for decades already, is it any wonder that you become so cynical that you even imagine that the party led by a convicted rapist must somehow have something better to offer than all the ordinary citizens forming the Democratic Party, quietly cultivating a strong moral spine behind the scenes?
Human nature can be dark but there are many who choose a better path and walk in the light. Lifeguards, firefighters, policemen, paramedics, nurses, doctors and others. They’re there when you need them most. Thank god for them, they are the best of us.
Unfortunately that doesn’t apply to a number of cops these days. I still want to believe most of them are good. But… I think that the roles of lifeguards, firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, nurses, doctors, and other first responders have not been as politicized/hijacked by the current administration.
Teachers are trying to stay afloat. No, they’re not first responders in the normal sense of the word, but without them, none of the previously mentioned folks could read or write as well as they likely do— for starters. They are the role models with whom our kids spend a vast majority of the day, in most cases. But their roles are also being politicized and attacked.

Many police officers (and other first responders) fall into in this category. Some do not. The MAGAts among them who’ve sold their souls to djt do not share in this “everyday hero” status.
And professions you mentioned contain some that this administration has attacked as “not professional” which means some of them will not get benefits and assistance such as tuition that they would get if they were considered “professions”. That happened a while ago and I haven’t read any analysis of the fallout yet, but it’s a disgrace.
On days when the news feels relentlessly bad, stories like this — and the countless others most of us never hear about — are genuinely uplifting. Thank you.
The young man who rescued the young boy is an example we should all aspire to and get involved - help others when they need help. There is a lot of good in the world that we seldom see. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you. My grandchildren's generation often gets a bum rap. It is my generation who should be apologizing for the horrible mess we have made for them to clean up.
And to me the best part is he and his family did not accept a monetary reward. His mother statement says it all, he loves his job helping people. Adult can learn from that.
Thank you for sharing hope with us. We are in great need of the ability to recognize hope and the presence of kindness and sacrifice. It is few and far between in today's media.

Amazing courage and strength (not just muscle, but of character). And in that moment, recognizing that the other adults could be in danger and waving them away, even though his own life might have been in danger, is even more amazing. Perhaps this generation will save us all!
