It boggles my mind that as a country we still do NOT prioritize the health of minds, emotions and psyche. These soldiers are being asked to be “non-human” to not have this uncertainty of their deployment affect them. They are not robots. By ignoring over all mental health concerns in this country, we are putting ourselves in a dangerous position. Think about mass shootings, road rage, serial killings, mental and physical abuse, rape and sex trafficking…. most stemming from, imho, unrecognized and untreated mental disorders. It seems it’s still a taboo subject just as it was 100 years ago.

He ran out ufvthe disposable krns days before. Abd he couldn't see well enough to repair. He was threatened abd ordered to do the work and on a critical flying machine, a mistake can be deadly. He knew he woukd be blamed if it crashed and the threats, pressure and lack ofv support from his superior officer realkybmade him desperate...so, he jumped. 😔 😟

These other creators did say that the military person would definitely receive psychological support and care, so that’s at least something. I think the system needs revamping but - again - I am not an experienced military member.
Well, I work in behavioral health and anytime someone attempted suicide that is not normal and it’s absolutely wrong to be punished for it. I’m so tired of behavioral health being treated like a choice. It’s a sickness of the mind just like someone has diabetes or heart issues or whatever.
Adam cam we the people do anything to help these military families. I know they’re usually on a base and stuff. Can we send them anything? Can people around them help the families even if it’s watching kids for a couple hours I know that’s extensive and also this young man that jumped. Is there a way to contact anyone in Congress to make sure this man doesn’t get punished and maybe get help this is insane. I understand a lot happens that American people don’t know about but this has come delight and if this is just one person, it makes me think there could be more. This breaks my heart from a family that had military. I just cannot fathom what they go through when they’re deployed and can’t come home on their given dates. On a federal level it takes an act of Congress, states have no such limitations. The National Guard can be federalized, but are usually in service of a state/territory. There are two acts in the Constitution regarding this issue: The Posse Comitatus and the Insurrection Act. I was one of the last to actually get drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War. (Yes, I'm THAT old.)
The resentment was huge and real. I marched against the war before I was drafted. I believed then,, and it is proven now, that the US was simply on the wrong side. Today, multiple commercial flights depart from the US to Vietnam every day filled with business and tourists. The US and Vietnam have signed a mutual defense treaty. The day of the "last flight out" of Saigon was the first day that the US started to win again -- in cooperation with our former bitter enemies.
I was able to game the system just enough to graduate from a University engineering school. I reported to the induction center the next day. I could have easily become an officer, but they wanted me for more years if I did that. I was in for two years -- the minimum possible. That made it possible for me to earn the Army Commendation Medal using my engineering skills. As it was, I was cast adrift into one of the worst recessions the US had experienced and my engineering degree seemed worthless.
If I had been tortured with the uncertainty that Adam describes ... Well ... I don't know what would have happened. Watergate exploded just as I was getting out. The US was ON THE WRONG SIDE of the Vietnam War and Nixon's Watergate was teaching us that corruption was simply a way of life in the US government.

Thank you to both of you for your service. What was proposed, to have reasonable rotations is an excellent idea although it seems common sense to me. The Guard is supposed to be PART TIME as they all have other civilian lives.

On a federal level it takes an act of Congress, states have no such limitations. The National Guard can be federalized, but are usually in service of a state/territory. There are two acts in the Constitution regarding this issue: The Posse Comitatus and the Insurrection Act. Which are not well written and have too much grey area...thus left to interpretation, which we have learned is a very dangerous thing.
There is talk of Rump ordering ICE to voting locations to intimidate and imo, likely grab--without cause--anyone who appears to be a shade of brown.

War is hell…and that’s exactly what we’re in.
I was one of the last to actually get drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War. (Yes, I'm THAT old.)
The resentment was huge and real. I marched against the war before I was drafted. I believed then,, and it is proven now, that the US was simply on the wrong side. Today, multiple commercial flights depart from the US to Vietnam every day filled with business and tourists. The US and Vietnam have signed a mutual defense treaty. The day of the "last flight out" of Saigon was the first day that the US started to win again -- in cooperation with our former bitter enemies.
I was able to game the system just enough to graduate from a University engineering school. I reported to the induction center the next day. I could have easily become an officer, but they wanted me for more years if I did that. I was in for two years -- the minimum possible. That made it possible for me to earn the Army Commendation Medal using my engineering skills. As it was, I was cast adrift into one of the worst recessions the US had experienced and my engineering degree seemed worthless.
If I had been tortured with the uncertainty that Adam describes ... Well ... I don't know what would have happened. Watergate exploded just as I was getting out. The US was ON THE WRONG SIDE of the Vietnam War and Nixon's Watergate was teaching us that corruption was simply a way of life in the US government.
As the US rides the Trump Toboggan into Hell, this may help people understand why things don't seem to work anymore.
I haven’t read through the comments yet, but I keep mentioning on any forum on this topic, that Trump will soon be forced to reinstate the draft. As this person mentioned, retention will suffer - and so will recruitment. We know Trump needs his toy soldiers, so he will have to resort to the draft. This needs more attention, before it happens. We need to wake up to be ready to fight Trump’s next vanity project - drafting the disloyal.

Thank you to both of you for your service. What was proposed, to have reasonable rotations is an excellent idea although it seems common sense to me. The Guard is supposed to be PART TIME as they all have other civilian lives.
Honestly, it is concerning that leadership can’t see the need for rotations of duty and time at home, ESPECIALLY because the guard is PART TIME! Even if a person is enlisted, they still need family time and R&R!
So how does military leadership get this message? Do you send this conversation to military leadership? To Congress people who will act on this by investigating what is going on?Thank you Adam for bringing this forward and keep us posted as to whether or not military leadership gets the message and actually listens to what is purposed!
