Very valuable information Adam. And so true. Cannot wait for our military to be rescued from Hegseth’s hands and rebuilt.

Go Blue Poems

A new poem daily until after the election.

Democracy is not inherited, it's borrowed

Let that ring in the brain that's been hollowed

Early voting in every state has begun

Soon Republicans will have no place to run

Trump destroys everything he doesn’t understand

Our alliances were built for when we must to make a stand

America's focus should be looking for the threats ahead

But Trump keeps whining about the last election instead

America is in turmoil because of Trump's evil doings

The reflection pool is empty and the East Wing is in ruins

Donald has had all the breaks in life but still plays the victim

Now his Attorney General works for, and protects only him

There is only one class benefiting in Trump's America

Billionaires and oil companies, which now includes in Russia

Trump and Musk are helping Putin destroy Ukraine

The shutting down of Starlink's protection, is insane

Donald's diesel deal helps Putin, is not disputable

Supporting a war criminal makes America culpable

America's reputation has taken a terrible beating

One more reason Republicans deserve defeating

Voting is power and your constitutional solution

It is a citizens' first duty is to defend the Constitution

The people have spoken. It's time for a change

The country has gone from sanity to the strange

His crime family are making billions while we suffer

ICE abuses and higher prices are all they offer

We deserve better from our government and president

The DOJ and FBI are now only serving Trump's resentment

They go after Trump's enemies instead of real crimes

American citizens should not be paying for it with our dimes

For years, we watched the government's destruction

Republicans have allowed all of Trump's corruption

We pay taxes to run the government

Not for billionaires to increase their bank statements

A storm is coming in our direction

It happens when there is too much deception.

Please restack and share my poems on FB and elsewhere, so the message is seen. Thanks, Packy Paules ✌️

I am a women that served 8 years in the United States Air Force as an A10 aircraft mechanic. I want our military back. The one that cared about all of us weither we were male. female, black or white. Republicans, you didn't take my pride away. I still believe we are the best and we still care about Ukraine and all of the other countries fighting to keep Russia and Trump from taking democracy from the world. Vote to save decency in the world by voting Democrat.

I read this on Joe Walsh Substack:

Doug Whitley is the former president of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce. He was president of the chamber when I was in Congress. He was what we would call, back in the day, a good “normal” Republican, and I was “Mr. Tea Party Republican.” We did not always see eye to eye.

He wrote a letter to the editor a few days back responding to Donald Trump’s request to vote as if “he is on the ballot.” Whitley then proceeded to write the most compelling and damning case about what Trump has done these past two years that I have ever seen.

So, instead of my words this time, I wanted to put Whitley’s letter to the editor in front of you. Please share it with everyone you know.

And by the way, remember when we used to write letters to the editor? Haha!👇

To the Editor:

Donald Trump asked me to vote as if he is on the ballot. Gladly.

Thanks for war with Iran, disrupting oil, erratic tariffs, unraveling global economics, and raising the cost of living for Americans.

Thanks for January 6 and pardoning all the rioters.

Thanks for putting masked, unidentified militia on American streets to surveille, track, and kill American citizens.

Thanks is for implementing inhumane deportation policies, detention centers, and denying due process.

Thanks for disrupting billions in medical research, stalling alternative energy initiatives, destabilizing the State Department, DHHS, CDC, EPA, National Parks, Smithsonian, Kennedy Center, and more.

Thanks for ruining and politicizing the DOJ, Secretary Hegseth whimsical decapitating military leadership, and sanctioning live streamed execution.

Thanks for increasing the deficit by $11 trillion while POTUS and discriminating against Republican voters in “blue” states by withholding grants, disaster aid, and congressionally approved spending in spite.

Thanks for disparaging our Canadian neighbors, excusing Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, undermining NATO, ignoring international law, praising dictators, and generally destroying decades of trust building and respect for American influence around the globe.

Thanks for demonstrating what autocratic despots can do to enrich family and friends when granted unchecked power.

Thanks for reminding us how easy it is to undermine the values of a 250-year-old democracy that heretofore depended upon honorable people of goodwill serving the public’s interest. Democracy is in peril when truth, facts, and history is distorted and a free press is undermined.

Thanks for the chaos,

Doug Whitley

That’s all for this week, except for this: Please consider becoming a paid subscriber to The Social Contract with Joe Walsh on Substack. Please. As you know, I’m an independent, solo voice, and I need all the help I can get to keep this little choo-choo train going. Thank you.

It would be funny seeing all these criticisms coming from “Beardos and weirdos” like Ted Cruz and Ben Shapiro if it weren’t so disgusting. Ukraine has a strong, smart leader. At the very top of our military, we have the weakest leaders there have been in my lifetime. If civilians want to criticize out military, they should start there.

Well stated Doris. Exactly right!

As a person who served, truer word's, which the Republicans have never uttered.

They are totally out of touch with what it actually means to serve.

Thank you Adam — what a great, articulate, thoughtful, important piece. Very much appreciated, I hope those who need to know this will read it and finally get the message. 🙏🇺🇸🇺🇦

Never mind that most of the actual fighting is happening in domains that don't require or allow physical presence (e.g., space) and that clever ideas are more important than brawn. We don't need our 1775 army back.

Hegseth must have been heard what Cruz & Carlson said. Neither Cruz nor old #45 look like they could do even one push up.

Cindy Mcdonald's avatar

"Americans deserve a more serious national security conversation than the one Cruz and the right have given us over the last few years. If you believe a policy damages readiness, explain how. Name the standard being compromised, show the evidence, and propose a fix. But simply pointing at an American soldier’s two mothers and then at a Russian doing pushups to draw your main distinction is an embarrassing substitute for real policy work."

Policy work is where we've compromised our defense abroad and security at home. While the human casualties of MAGA policies may not look as dire as the death toll in Ukraine, , the failure to address ANY problem with a serious policy reflection has cost the US and our allies a different and dangerous toll.

Pam Valente's avatar

Really good article. Once again - straight to the heart of the matter as your thoughts always are. That IS good policy work. To borrow a phrase - Republicans are not serious people.

Is like ro know what happened to Malonelord from the U.S. Army campaign. Did she advance in rank and skill enough to become an officer? Was she then denied a higher promotion by Hegseth simply because she was a woman?

Trump is a traitor to Ukraine, which has never given up, and is a bulwark against further Putin country-seizing ambitions.

Our military cannot be the strongest, nor a beacon of hope to others when Hegseth continues to slice off the top tiers and mismanage incompetent ly, while focusing on T-loaded, white Xian nationalism.

Sally S's avatar

Ted Cruz has always been questionable, quite the loser! 😝

Deb Haugh's avatar

“A United States senator should have known which one deserved his respect.” But, alas, Cruz always on the wrong side of things.
