For a narcissist, it is difficult to empathize with another person; for the solipsist, there is literally no other actual person there with whom to be emphasized, beyond representing either an obstacle or an impediment to his worldview and his will. The tape you present is a shining example. Similarly, in djt’s eulogy to his father, Fred, he rambled on and on about his own achievements with very little attention to the life of his father, other than his magnificent contribution to the world in having donald as a son.

I would argue that this does not go nearly far enough, leading one to conclude that, “Oh ok, just like me jerk of an ex-boyfriend.” No. Not only does the term come up shy of the more serious personality categories of sociopath and, worse, psychopath. Solipsism is a kind of “stealth” delusional disorder involving paranoid and grandeur. This despite the person being quite capable of being charming and a fun guy at a party. Many of my co-authors in the NYT bestseller “Th Dangerous Case of Donald Trump” (2017) settle for malignant narcissist. I would argue that this does not go nearly far enough, leading one to conclude that, “Oh ok, just like me jerk of an ex-boyfriend.” No. Not only does the term come up shy of the more serious personality categories of sociopath and, worse, psychopath. Solipsism is a kind of “stealth” delusional disorder involving paranoid and grandeur. This despite the person being quite capable of being charming and a fun guy at a party. It is only when the underlying, hidden delusions are challenged or thwarted that the disorder is nakedly exposed, often furiously so. Recall his shocking statements that he would end the Iranian civilization, “never to return,” starting at exactly 8PM.

I believe the quality of chapters is very uneven. If you do decide to take another look, Elizabeth Mika’s chapter is magnificent, told through the eyes of someone who understands tyranny from having lived it.
