What a beautiful reminder this lovely Sunday morning ! Thank you once again Adam. It is very easy to think that we are helpless as this craziness continues in our country . I was just reading John Lewis’ speech to speak up , speak out and get in the way. Make good trouble . Amen.
You, Adam are here because you spoke out, and we are grateful for it! I hope one day soon you can go back to Washington and surround yourself with like minded, honest people who aren’t afraid to speak out! ❤️
So moving. And I heartily agree with Adam and with all the commenters here in appreciating the power of people to speak out, I also want to give a shout out to Aaron Parnas for breaking the story of these sailors' plight. His reporting alerted us and the Congressional Dems and others who channeled our outrage into action. Love, and gratitude to all for this Sunday's good news story!
Every single word spoken, every single time makes a difference. We, as Americans can choose to speak out and make sure we are on the right path. Thoughts have power. Words have power. We all have the power to make a better world. Never give in to the fear that is generated by people who would have us remain quiet. Our right to speak out is our power. The Founding Fathers knew this and so do we. Say what you believe. Never before in our history as a nation has this been more important. Welcome home to our brave service men and women. We appreciate and love you.
Thank you for writing all of this, but especially this: "Thoughts have power. .... We all have the power to make a better world." I'm beginning to realize the importance of cleaning up not only my words and (outer) actions, but also my thoughts -- a tough one for me, because I can be very judgmental. E.g., I see neighbors on my street who I know were (and probably still are) Trump supporters, and I look down on them for what I consider their blindness and stupidity, and I feel a flash of anger or condescension. I'm trying, instead, to understand that experiences in their lives led them to that place and that human limitations that we all have make changing their minds challenging.
Anyhow, not sure that makes sense to others or that that's what you had in mind, but, just my two cents.
It was amazing seeing those sailors being met by their loved ones. And the sailors meeting their babies for the first time made me cry. So glad they’re back.
This is so incredibly hopeful. But the trick is to get the story out there. How many of these atrocities are happening that we don’t know about? I guess the answer is that we need to focus on the ones we do know about, and when we learn about them, to start organizing, messaging, and showing up.
Agreed, and we can also support the independent journalists, including Adam and HCR and Aaron Parnas, who inform us of such situations so that we can speak out about them.
Welcome home to the officers and sailors aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln. You have done your country proud despite less-than-optimal conditions. Thank you each and every one of you for your service. Thank you, thank you, thank you...
Yes!!!! And this time it's important to Vote Early. Even if you usually vote on Election Day, this one is different. We have been told, by them, that they will try to cheat, including by intimidating people at and around polling places. Early voting makes it more difficult for them. And a big early turnout for candidates who will work to curb the chaos is likely to build momentum for others to vote for them as well.
Thank you Adam for this wonderful welcoming home for the USS Lincoln sailors and for your courage and humanity. You are a hero.
It’s just before dawn, but it’s clear that the return of the Abraham Lincoln and your Sunday comments have made my day. Thank you, Adam!
🚨It just hit me that six days ago that POS draft dodger-in-chief invited Iran to attack the home port of the Lincoln and that he did so, knowing the men and women on board were on the way home. Is this why he said that blasphemy—the things you’ve reported today about how his hand was forced to bring them home? That takes my breath away.
Give me a minute while I wipe my eyes. Living near the sub base and teaching for 30 years watching the subs come up and down the river, always made me misty. You always tell the news like it is. This is one time that it is worth the cry of happiness. Welcome home Abraham Lincoln!
Good news Adam. I was on active duty for 24 years, and recall the uncertainty for coming home during “gulf one”. We left “yoko” in August’90 and returned in April ‘91. Then during the post deployment stand down, we left to help with pinatubo evacuation. We were worn out for sure, but no one tried to kill themselves. In this instance, I think PACFLT made errors in the rotation sequence for the carriers. It’s very hard to do, because certification and training requirements are essential to safety. BUT, the Navy did a poor job with PR so people would know that possibilities were being explored. Bottom line: this situation could have been avoided and it was a failure of leadership. And Trump made it worse.
Happy Sunday, Adam. I'm very glad that you emphasized that our voices do matter. In the last couple of weeks, I've been seeing comments on Social Media that voting is useless. That it won't change anything. My response is that it isn't the fix, it's the Start! I hope a lot of people who are thinking of staying home will see this. Not only is voting our right, it's our duty!
Really good news!
