THANKS FOR THE GOOD NEWS!!!!!!!!!

Tom McG's avatar

Great! Now let’s see if we can keep MAHA from destroying/delaying it.

Thank goodness for this breath of fresh air! I love this concept of Sunday good news. How promising, this mRNA!

Thanks, Adam.

Any good news is wonderful at this moment in our lives. I thought that rfk jr had done away with all the mRNA technology. I am thrilled to hear that Scientists are still able to do much needed research and they are having good results here in the United States. It is good to know that we are not completely doomed under this regime.

he did- but specifically with Pancreatic cancer the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network has been petitioning Congress not to cut funding for the research. So it worked this time. Just should not be such a fight for everything.

You are right! It shouldn’t be a freaking fight to get any cancer research.

Thanks for this link! Both my folks died of pancreatic ca... I have lesions and congenital Pancreas abnormality... have been "under surveillence" (at least 6 mos mri/scopes), and like both parents, otherwise very healthy and fit. I have been gathering all the info I can... my doc is very diligent... but this mRNA technology is huge!! I've donated to this cause and (selfishly...) will continue to keep this research going, no matta' what!! I didn't have this link, so, again many thanks!!

You're welcome! :)

You're not doomed. There are still plenty of good and decent Americans out there. Greetings from New Zealand x

This is good news, as i recently heard that MAHA was defunding mrna research. As a physician this is so frustrating. The concept of defunding research is akin to covering your eyes to hide! These kooks are still playing reality TV games.

Diane1, this should be widely publicized. They tried to kill it, but β€œThis outcome didn’t happen by chance. It happened because advocates like you made the stakes impossible to ignore.” Thank you for your efforts, and for the link to the article.

Well said! Hopefully people will demand that funding to NIH be restored to further fund cancer vaccines, and to encourage researchers to stay in this country instead of moving abroad to work. This is a situation that is not getting enough attention these days. Thank you, from a scientist.

Patricia Mei's avatar

Yes, keeping prayers for that.

I love the idea of Sunday good news! We all need it! 😊

Thank you for looking and sharing the bright spots in our country. There are always blessings if one looks hard enough.

Mayme's avatar

It is hard to find those bright spots, but they are out there.

Jenny E's avatar

Agree with you, Joan. They are absolutely available, we just have to remember to keep an eye out for them.

Joan Bailey's avatar

Sometimes have to look really hard but the uplifted spirit is worth it.

Hey Adam - thanks for covering this - and probably a good idea to do some "good news" updates! I had heard about this mRNA cancer treatment research recently - so glad there are some scientists still surviving out there who have been able to do actual research in the face of all the cutbacks, science-denial, etc., etc., etc. People don't understand how mRNA technology works, and the huge potential it has. This cancer research is huge, and the news has gotten buried under all the other chaos right now - so, thanks again for digging this up and bringing it to the top of the pile this morning!

an advocacy group had to fight to keep this funding. shouldn't have to be this difficult.

Very good news explained!

Barbara Rohmer's avatar

This is great news. Now just keep that fool rfk jr from stopping trials

LYNN COOK's avatar

Sadly, Barbara... don't believe rfk, jr...the family disappointment...has the intelligence to read Adam's sage comments.

Good news is always welcome! We need it badly. I do know someone who is benefiting from breakthroughs with pancreatic cancer. I also met a woman who was years into her diagnosis of melanoma and the newest treatments were helping her to live with it rather than follow the usual trajectory of a two yr battle to the death. It really is amazing!

Jen Lank's avatar

That is wonderful news!

We also saw the first female trainer to ever win the Kentucky Derby. It was heartwarming to see her daughter in tears saying how proud she was of her mom. We’ve got this ladies!

crazy cat lady's avatar

we do have this! no matter what the patriarchy throws at us, we are so damn tough and determined!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! celebrating another breakthrough for women!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I Resist's avatar

I would like to see more women standing together supporting each other both for their own right and to show the world that we’re not buying MAGA women are inferior and should be obedient to men bullshit. We’ve all come too far for that and especially you women! πŸ’ͺπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έβ€οΈβ€πŸ”₯πŸ«ΆπŸΌπŸ—½πŸ’œ

Thanks, Adam, I love your β€œgood news story” idea for Sundays!

Field Notes's avatar

So glad to see several of those that I follow such as Aaron P and Heather Cox Richardson and Adam K reminding us of what is good and that is powerful…

Mari Wilson's avatar

Hey, we follow the same people! Great minds... πŸ˜ƒ

That really IS good news! And I really like your idea for Sundays. Reading all that’s wrong in our world does make things feel very bleak at times. It’s good to have a break. Happy Sunday.

I have been reading about this development with great excitement, so thanks for sharing this, Adam! My understanding is that the research is too far along for Kennedy and his incompetent sidekicks to stop it. That is more good news.

And I love this idea! I hope you’ll keep doing it. I appreciate everything you post, but a bright spot in a long struggle is always welcome.

I’m happy to hear this but it comes too late to save my brother in law and Dad. They died in 2023 & 2024 of Glioblastoma and Pancreatic cancer. Both fought hard but cancer is relentless.

Louise's avatar

Yes, the same with my own father and my lovely younger sister but we must hold our memories close. Think how delighted our loved ones would be to somehow know about the great strides that are being made against the enemy they fought.

JulieRobbins's avatar

So sorry for your loss of your dad and sis, too! Holding onto the memories is such a balm to our grieving hearts... My folks are gone but I relive the joy found in the memories.

Susheila Khera's avatar

I’m sorry you lost family to the scourge of cancer.

JulieRobbins's avatar

I am so sorry, Elizabeth.. what a terrible time for you and your loved ones. May this advance in research bring about more survival, though it was not inn time for your BIL and Dad...

LYNN COOK's avatar

So very sorry for the loss of your dear brother in law and father, Elizabeth.

May beautiful memories. of your loving times together never leave your heart.πŸ™

I love your idea! And this news about research in cancer gives us HOPE. Thank you Adam. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Thank you, Adam! It is useful to remember in science, results can come years later. The research that lead to rMRA vaccines was originally basic research about how cells behaved, without any sense that anything would come out of it other than a few scientific papers. What a wonderful thing that the billions of dollars spend on Operation Warp Speed may have not only saved lives during the pandemic, but accelerated a cure for cancer that will save even more lives.

Aline Balbas's avatar

I read about that and I thought what wonderful news! If this works on multiple cancers this would fantastic!

crazy cat lady's avatar

so sorry for your losses, but hopefully no one else in your family will have to die from these cancers.

K Wilson's avatar

My deepest condolences.

Aline Balbas's avatar

Thank you for your well wishes but no one is sick in my family. I was just saying in general for anyone who is diagnosed with cancer
