Why is Vance in Hungary to promote yet another dictator? Why is that US

Business? Even Marco Rubio went there! How about focusing on problems in the US? I get more furious by the day

John Crowe's avatar

Yes, and at the same time JD is helping promote that dictator he's complaining about European interference in US elections.

Ronnie Klein's avatar

Because , I fear, this all is not just an attempted fascist takeover of our democracy, but has a more wide-spread international agenda

sean malee's avatar

It’s like a mini dictatorship seminar. He loves rubbing elbows with these mini “strong men”. Like playing war with your friends. Such a wannabe, vance knows he doesn’t have the stuff.

Thank you Adam. All too true, just wish upper level would handle this problem before we’re doomed.

igor isa🤘⚧️'s avatar

Imho: upper level is not gonna save us & sadly 25th amendment is the wrong answer. I'm disheartened by how many think it's an ez fix when it's just bad idea theatre. i'm sharing @MilesTaylor's article (linked below) for deets on why they avoided the 25th inside drümpf #1: mostly cuz drümpf gets 3 weeks in power before removal to incite a bloody civil war!😱...Impeachment’s better, Art 2 Sec 4 has the tools. I believe We the People have power & strength in numbers to #ProtectOurElections. we must ALL put in the effort to make them #TooBigToRig; then when dems take both house & senate impeachment becomes ez as pie 🤞💙🌊🇺🇸🙏🏻‼️

I hope some Rs DO give you a call...(do you have any sense of how many of your former colleagues follow you?)

I’m wondering the same.

Thank you, Adam. You are a hero in our time of great need. I pray that Republicans do speak with you and that they find the courage that you have found—to stand up for our Constitution and for what is moral.

igor isa🤘⚧️'s avatar

Spot on Sharman, 💯‼️ Maybe we should all re-stack Adam's article with a note saying "if you have a republican rep or senator(s), please send them Adam's article and suggest they contact him for advice". Actually it would go well as a set with @MilesTaylor's recent article "It would take only THREE House Republicans to stop Trump." 🧚🏽‍♂️LINK FAIRY sez check it out https://defiance.substack.com/p/it-would-take-only-three-house-republicans?r=60kbqc&utm_medium=ios&shareImageVariant=overlay

...maybe i'll try to put together some kind of post relating the 2 articles, maybe along with the other article from Miles that I linked above, his POV on the 25th after serving under General Kelly inside drümpf 1. if you wanna follow my stack you can keep an eye out for it 🤓

Thank you, Adam. I just cannot understand the people turning away from this obvious truth. In any other position, this would be elder abuse. This "Man" is incapable of any truth and reality. He needs to stop, as does most of his cabinet.

Jill Stoner's avatar

Adam, great explanation. One correction-- Roosevelt sought a fourth term, not a third, and died soon after . . .

Joy B's avatar

Regan had dementia and his wife Nancy covered for him. If everyone in the cabinet knew, and they didn’t use the 25th then. Do you think it is a Republican problem?

Maureen Oliver's avatar

Perfectly explained Adam. I just WISH that we could make Congress see the emergent crisis that is Donald Trump, and make them DO SOMETHING NOW!

CE's avatar

We are watching one individual and a gaggle of sycophants dismantle the United States of America. If the Cabinet won’t intervene, and Congress will not do the jobs for which they’re elected, then the American people must and will rise up.

Pam Birkenfeld's avatar

The cabinet likes the dismantling of the US. See Project 2025

Barbara Perra's avatar

Why are you and others, wasting precious energy discussing the 25 Amendment when it would require Trump's sycophants to turn against him and it evidently will be a cold day in hell before that happens??? Better to discuss ways we can counter Trump's efforts to subvert our elections.

Steve O’Cally's avatar

Can’t have an election if there’s naught but cockroaches left.

Jeannine Anderson's avatar

Every avenue is worth trying. We can’t wait for the elections. We need to get him out asap. He has threatened to destroy an entire civilization. That means nuclear weapons. He may do it again. In fact it seems very likely. We must work to get him out.

The only thing that scares ne is that Vance is waiting in the wings.".

RJM's avatar

Fortunately Vance is the least likable politician in decades. Ted Cruz has more charm. That might make spineless Republicans decline to do his bidding. Maybe.

Ed Welch's avatar

DJT stated that he would destroy an entire civilization, essentially murdering 93 million people. How would he have possibly have been able to do that? Yes, the only way possible, by using nuclear weapons! Has anybody even asked him? Were they actually talking about using nuclear weapons? I think they should bring Rubio & Hegseth in front of a Congressional committee and ask them, under oath to tell the truth! Either way, it calls his bluff! Either they were actually talking about it OR he was using it as a scare tactic, so sort of deranged negotiating method! Threatening genocide & mass murder over the price of gasoline! Either way, he is nuts! Unstable, needs to be removed NOW!

Ellen Brown's avatar

I will never believe there are enough Republicans to back 25th Amendment removal. Shown all the inconceivable, criminal, and unconstitutional acts committed, the Republicans have declined to acknowledge his lack of fitness for the office. Unless he dies in office, we are stuck with him. JD Vance or whatever his name is this year, could prove to be even more frightening.

Jeannine Anderson's avatar

Yes Vance is frightening. But is he more frightening than a nuclear world war? If that happens we all die. I think this is more likely to happen under Trump than Vance. Trump’s sister Mary says that if he thinks he’s going down, he will want to take all of us with him.

Great post, Adam. I hope some of these members call you. One can only hope and pray they will. It is indeed a terrifying time for our country and the world.

Jeff Lazar's avatar

Cookie Monster has the best answer to your question: "I can't believe you ask such a stupid question."

Sorry Adam, the spineless and brain dead Rs are long past being resuscitated. Perhaps they will work out as living organ donors.

Jill B.'s avatar

That would be way too generous of ANY OF THEM!

Rhetta Standifer's avatar

Adam, I really wish I could be optimistic about the likilhood of enacting the 25th in this case. But I simply can't. The Congressional Republicans have no spine and no desire to stand against Trump. Whether it's to stay in power or because of a fear of retribution, I don't know or care. I don't respect them either way. You have demonstrated that it is possible to maintain your self-respect and your love of country. They should be able to do the same.

I have even less trust in the Cabinet, which is filled with sycophants and people ridiculously ill-prepared for the positions they hold. In the Organizational Behavior course I teach in college, I discuss the concept of Groupthink with my students - this Cabinet is a textbook example of such thinking (or lack thereof). They will never push against Trump - never.

Vance is interesting. At this point, I don't see him going against Trump. However, if the wind changes direction, he'll turn on Trump in a heartbeat if it serves his purpose. He will do or say anything for power - he is without honor or respect.

We have to face the fact that we have a president who was mentally and emotionally broken before he became elderly. Now at 80, he most certainly suffers from dementia and quite possibly something more extreme. Before his term is over, it is very likely things will become dire enough that he will need to be removed from office. The question will be can Congress be relied upon to do it?

Meg Metcalf's avatar

Perhaps, if the mid-terms actually occur and the turnout is massive - but even then, I'm not sure that Congress can be relied on. I surely hope so, but sadly, I'm not convinced.

Thanks again, Adam. I agree. But will they actually do it? And if so, can’t Vance then continue the Trump policies? He has been helped into power by Peter Theil, who has no love for Democracy. He has made that clear. Wouldn’t an Impeachment using article 2 section 4 be better? It would rid us of the entire regime, including Stephen Miller who is an extremely evil man IMO. Thoughts? (I do like how you’ve open up communications with the Republicans you know. I hope they take you up on it) 🤞🏻
