The level of corruption , flagrant abuse of power, fanaticism and sewage pouring out of the Trump administration is simply staggering!!

couldn't have been able to say it any better.....their "smears" are exactly that flacid spineless and foul

And now they're announcing a 25 million dollar whistle blower campaign against fraud. I'm laughing so hard at that it hurts, sitting there falling asleep is the most fraudulent human being I've ever been aware of.

These are despicable people in the GOP. Shameful. Thank you, Adam, for speaking out on behalf of the brave families who have the courage to put themselves on the line for each other. My heart breaks for them.

My mother was the most beautiful, courageous woman I have ever known. Yes, I'm partial. When she was young, she suffered physical abuse from a man my grandmother lived with. It was not sexual abuse, it was physical in that she was locked in a closet whenever he was on one of his rants. He tied her left arm to a chair and forced her to write and eat with her right hand. Why? Because he thought something was wrong with her using her left hand. He would whip her over any perceived infraction. She was removed from the home and put in an orphanage. Thank God for my great Aunt Alice who rescued her! As an adult, my mom took care of my grandmother as she drifted farther away due to dementia. She cared for her for sixteen years until her death. I asked my mom why she would care for a mother that treated her so horribly. Her response stays with me even today. She said, "At the end of the day, family is all we have to bind us and keep us close. My mother made a mistake, and I have forgiven her. We must always have room in our hearts to forgive those who need forgiveness." She was the best mother anyone could ever ask for, and it hurts my heart that Amy Acton has to endure what she suffered as a child all over again because a vile human being decided it would get him votes. I am so very proud of her brother for standing up for his sister at such an awful time. Back when my mom was young, those types of abuse, both physical and sexual, were not talked about. Today, it seems that too many Americans thrive on the pain of others. If I lived in Ohio, I would vote for Amy Acton. Why? Because she lived through a horrendous period in her life and still managed to move on and become the wonderful woman and candidate she is today. Shame on ramaswamy for stooping so low to attack his opponent in this way. All it has done is shown that he has no morals, no scruples, no integrity and absolutely no honor.

Thank you for sharing this difficult story about your amazing mom. May we all strive to be as forgiving and kind.

Peggy Freeman's avatar

She was amazing, Hey Mama Warrior. I am so very grateful that she was my mom. I try so very hard to use the lessons she taught me about being kind and forgiving. Truth be told though, when it comes to the man in the White House, I am having a really difficult time with the forgiving part!!

It's people like Amy Acton and her brother--as well as you and your mother and many others whom we'll never hear about--who provide the glimmers of hope that lead us to think we can survive these terrible times. May we all try to behave this way. Evil is actually weakness, not strength, and it can be conquered by good. May it be so for all of us.

Peggy Freeman's avatar

That was beautifully said, Paul. I will always believe that good will always conquer evil. It may take some time, but I do feel that the good people in America will prevail.

Lori Rubenstein's avatar

I'm always moved by stories like this of forgiveness. Your mom sounds like a great role model.

Peggy Freeman's avatar

Thank you, Lori! Even today when I am faced with decisions, I think to myself, "What would mom do?" Her lessons stay with me every day.

Thank you for sharing this story. Your mother was truly a very special person.

Thank you, Franca. To me, she was the most amazing woman! She taught me so much. I miss her every day.

YES! MAGA GOPs are not fit to run anything in this nation. VOTE BLUE.

I live 30 miles from Texas so I get to see the attack ads from the Abbott and Paxton campaigns. The same tired school kid sex change and voted for increased property tax lies and falsehoods. It is not just Abbott and Paxton. It comes from the top down. The President is a lying, scamming criminal who is actually as dumb as mud. These people aren't Republicans. They are criminals. That is who we have governing us and running many of the states.

I don't want that nastiness in my life. I want all of that done away with. No attack ads. Be like the Republican Mayor of Shreveport. Campaign on what you have accomplished and state clearly what you plan to do if re-elected. I don't have to live in a Christian nation. I just want to live in one that is distinguished by fairness, kindness, and caring for all people.

I hope the people in Ohio stand up with their vote and show the world we are better than this.

The biggest question I have is—will our society ever return to the bare minimum level of decency we had in the pre-Trump era. The despicable people who have received validation from Trump and his cohorts need to return to their caves. There is no line they will not cross. Nothing is off limits. The devolution of our society needs to be stopped. Since Trump has returned to office, I have feared what would happen when he doesn’t get his way. Mostly he’s run roughshod over whatever or whomever is in his way. Now we are faced with watching his biggest loss. Those of us who don’t sanction his corruption and grift are about to witness some truly frightening behavior. Watch out!

I'm in your camp, Ellen. Same questions; same fears.

Can you believe this is actually happening? It’s like a horror film

We are all under warped and weaponized scrutiny. Bullies and liars must be stood up to and rightfully first exposed then suffer the consequences. We see and now know yet do nothing, Congress, Senate and Supreme Court?

Lauren Cohen's avatar

I neglected to note law breakers too.

At the end of the day we all need to ask ourselves if we want leadership that takes pain and lies and uses it to gain power . I would hope that everyone would find that despicable but some don’t .

Thank you for two stories I was unaware of. When DJT calls El Sayed a "communist," I'm surprised that someone doesn't say, not only is it not true, if it were, then he would be someone you would celebrate, as you, DJT, celebrate one of the most notorious communist on the planet, Putin. I haven't seen or heard anyone with that comeback to his communist diatribes, but those are his buddies! Am I wrong, the only one to see this as an obvious retort to his communist rants?

Adam - thanks for sharing this story and your perspective. Stories like these remind me of JC preaching about the yeast if the Pharisees - the evil and lies have permeated from the top down. Lies, slander, disrespect and violence are encouraged from the top down. We MUST vote them out.!🔵✅

I'm in Kansas and Roger Marshall has continuedly lied in his ads about his opponent Adam Hamliton saying he covered up a sexual abuse case associated with the Church Hamilton pastures (they actually reported it when verified and testified against the abuser). When called out in his lie he altered the ads slightly to just make it sound like Hamilton was somehow deeply involved in the event without the false cover-up claims. He also had ads claiming Hamilton's Church received Covid loans that went to Hamilton personally. They actually went to pay staff members at the church (including Hamilton) and were all paid back in full to the government. I'm also sick of seeing racist images in ads showing black men in prison garb and Latino gang members when saying their opponents favor criminals and illegal immigrants such as Ty Masterson has done against his opponent. Because the Republican party has funneled a ton of money here, you see these ads relentlessly on TV all day. It's just ridiculous and in many ways terrifying. I don't know why anyone would want to run as a democrat when the republican party is so negative in their ads. I get that there are also negative ads against them also but at least they seem to be based in fact and don't embellish or lie.

Alyce Bergbower's avatar

I live in PA and Brian Fitzpatrick, the GOP representative in our district for almost two decades is doing the same thing, lying about his Democratic opponent, Bob Harvie. All they do is lie, smear, name call, and throw out conspiracies. They certainly can’t run on their records or what they have done to help their constituents. It seems to be their nationwide tactic.

There doesn't seem to be any low to which the Republicans won't go.

Thank you for your important work to expose the tragedy going on within the walls of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

I am well aware of Trump's "horribleness" going back to when he and his old man got into trouble for their racist discrimination of black folks looking to rent in a Trump owned apartment building.

In walks Roy Cohn who Michael Douglas described in his just released #1 NY Times bestseller One Helluva Ride as a "Real Piece of Shit".

Well the GHOST of that pos - Roy Cohn - lives in Trumps head.

I never thought America could or would elect such a depraved individual in 2016 after being caught "on tape"....

Christians - hardly !!

Nearly 90 million did not vote in 2024.

I think Trump has poked the bear that hopefully will result in the "Orbánning" of Trumps congress - House & Senate in 13 days.

A BLUE WAVE

Trump is inflicting self harm with his despicable desperate rants at GOP rallies.

The link below depicts a vile loathsome evil 👿 racist man at his xenophobic worst.

Don't forget that Musk rigged Trump into our White House - no doubt about this, he had admitted it, and Trump knew all about it. Turns out that Russia propelled Trump into the WH in 2016. Neither election was legitimate. So yes, VOTE BLUE - and revoke Musk's U.S. citizenship and get him out of our government. Arrest Trump for treason as fast as legally possible and get him forever out of our government.

This is just lower than low. Just when you didn't think the political races in Ohio could get any nastier along comes Vivek Ramaswamy with the piece of garbage ad. In my estimation Amy Acton has done right by this state in her service to the as a medical professional and as the Chief Medical Officer for the state during Covid. While she and Dr. Fauci didn't get it all right during Covid-19 they did the best they could with what they knew and had to work with. To vilify she and Dr. Fauci the Republican party has degraded the fine individuals they both are. To Monday morning quarterback is just plain BS.

While they are many good Republicans, there are those that still follow the Trump playbook. They have fallen under the spell of Trumpism, all its lies and BS. Ramaswamy is no better. The Ramaswamy ads picturing future insight into an Acton governorship are also plain BS. The future ads talking about laying off people because the economy is so bad and people not being able to afford groceries. I would say they got the future part wrong because that is what is happening today.

Shame on you Vivek Ramaswamy. You are not an honorable man. Honorable people do not do things like you just did. Remember to vote and sweep people like him and the Trump political enablers out of office.

Mike Levine's avatar

Thanks for highlighting these terrible attempts to smear good people. The deployment of Dr. Acton’s abusive mother against her in this ad says nothing about Amy Acton, but speaks volumes about Vivek Ramaswamy.

I’m making another donation to Amy’s campaign today. I hope my fellow readers will join me.
