Betrayal is the perfect concept for the Trump administration, and the Republicans in office who support it. The sacred trust to uphold the Constitution was abrogated, and we, the people, have been most foully betrayed.

Exactly! “We, the people, have been betrayed”—repeatedly and without remorse, without reckoning, and without accountability. Our democratic nation has gone rogue.

Skepticat's avatar

The "leaders" have gone rogue; the rest of us need to fight on.

Thinking MAGA cultists, too.

Our allies have also been betrayed!

And horribly so…

I have had requests for donations to World Kitchens for Ukraine in the last couple of weeks. Feeding people sheltering in the subways during Russian bombardment is one way to vote. The other way is to vote like your life depends on it, A straight ticket Blue!

But how do we help Ukraine we can’t wait another 2 years.

Michael Hajek's avatar

Vote out as many of his enablers as we can in November, then keep the heat on a more supportive Congress to get something done about or to neutralize and/or neuter those remaining.

Right now we can donate to organizations that are are physically helping the poor citizens of Ukraine. Make sure you give to a legitimate organization, of course. The Salvation Army is one; they have an emergency response branch at their site online where you can specify that your donation be used to help Ukraine. There are other good groups helping there, too.

There are numerous legit organizations we can donate to. World Central Kitchen was mentioned above. I donate to two. White Stork prepares and delivers personal trauma first aid kits to Ukrainian soldiers, which have saved many lives. Each kit is $65, but any amount is welcome. US based.

The second is Zelenskyy’s nonprofit, United24defense, which allows you to choose various aspects of the war effort to support. Any amount welcome. Both accept credit cards, Pay Pal, etc. support.whitestork.us; u24.gov.ua

Dear Adam, thank you for this. I’m so angry about us turning our backs on Ukraine. 🇺🇦 It’s so interesting that I’m reading this right after reading Heather Cox Richardson‘s letter today about all the crooked crooks (essentially everyone in Trump’s crooked administration) finally being exposed. I hope you’ve read that, as well.

How is it that one man controls all the satellites for these types of missions! I can’t believe the world allowed this to happen. Obviously the Internet has become a monopoly for one man, and he despises Zelenskyy. Elon Musk must go along with the rest of the crooked regime and billionaires.

This is all so maddening .. thank you Adam for your integrity and hard work on the January 6th committee. And for Ukraine. As someone else just asked how do we help them now 😥 vote blue! 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙 💛💙🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇸🇺🇸

Ukraine is fighting hard and beating the mighty Russian military machine. Not needing to put US “boots on the ground” is huge. It is a national disgrace to not put everything we can into this fight. As a former US Navy fighter pilot, I agree with your statement: “Never leave your wingman.” When the fight gets tough, it is our wingman that helps us survive and win. We are Ukraine’s “wingman” and we cannot leave them in the middle of their fight for survival. Bravo Zulu for standing up to the Traitor in Chief.

I knew this was going to happen, Trump just took a huge crap on all the military veterans, and intelligence operatives, who worked, and many who gave their lives, through the Cold War years, and beyond, to keep not only the US, but other global allies, safe from Soviet intrusions. And now, he's aligned himself with that old KGB sob/war criminal who obviously has him over a barrel from being a compromised asset. My father was not only a USAF career officer but also an intelligence officer through those years, so glad he's no longer here to see this happen to Ukraine and to the United States. Our whole world is in peril by this godawful alliance. And before I get any blowback, I'm more than aware of what the CIA did through the years that destabilized governments. But one area they definitely got it right was with the Soviets/Russia. Vote people.

The one and only Donald J.Trump, in a spectacular display of his bloated egocentic obsession to enrich and glorify himself, has betrayed Ukraine and the free world. He sold us all out so he could make a deal with our arch enemy to buy their diesel fuel at a bargain price to drive the domestic costs down - just in time for the November 3rd elections. And all Trump had to do, in return, was to deny Ukraine access to our intelligence data so they could defend themselves against Russia's ground forces and bombings of their homes, schools and hospitals. It's all about Donald Trump's lust for money and power. We have a madman in the White House. Let's hope that our country comes to its senses to send a message to Trump and his menagerie of grovelling sychophants and greedy billionnaires on November 3rd that the gig is up.

Adam, I forgot about this picture of that weasel Kevin McCarthy posing with Trump after January 6, until you posted it today.

It makes me sick.

And Trump continuing to cozy up to Putin, a murderous thug dictator and war criminal, makes me even sicker.

The Russia hoax was NEVER a hoax.

Ukraine has been fighting for us and everyone else in the free world who believe in democracy.

Trump is a truly evil, disgusting human being with no capacity for empathy for the millions of innocent Ukrainians who have paid and will continue to pay the price for his worship of Putin.

I truly hope that all decent Americans remember this on election day.

Once again Adam, you are right on. Thanks for all you do!

Unfortunately, the cost of such disloyalty, deceit, and untrustworthiness is most damaging in the long-term. As it goes in any relationship, when trust is broken it takes serious work and time to repair, if at all. And we're not talking about business deals or family relationships, but rather, lost lives and fundamental freedoms. There can be irreparable harm and restoring the cherished position of trusted partner that we once had might be too tall of an order for even the most well-meaning among us.
