Thank you Adam for such a great perspective, that we all can learn from as we enter an even more fraught with anxiety time, the midterms. Half my family has held that door closed from the inside, so I've let go and walked away. And having been raised by a WW2/Cold War veteran/career military officer, I know I have to keep honoring the legacy he left, as they all did, for not only myself, but for my children and grandchildren. We have to hold their sacrifices like a torch in front of us all, lighting the way forward.
You have expressed so well both the sense of hopelessness and the refusal to give up hope so many of us feel. In any battle, the enemy’s main goal is to wear down its opposition until full surrender takes place. This is what this current administration and the man who runs it are waiting for, but time is on our side. He is visibly deteriorating right before our eyes. He is so consumed with such an insane desire for adoration and power, he is no longer paying any attention to what this is doing to him and to his faithful followers. Please keep speaking the truth, Mr. Kinzinger, because your courage inspires many of the rest of us to do the same.
I was just sitting here this morning ‘ yelling into the wind!’ I felt depleted . I felt so low that breathing hurt! Then I read your beautifully written article, Adam, and it resonated with me. As I’ve watched this travesty of an administration play out its awful agenda, I , as many others, have wondered how we have come to this. Their voices are loud and seem to dominate. But WE too have voices and know ours speak to the truth. My prayers are that we will all do our part , no matter how small, to speak the truth and stand strong in our convictions. Adam, you are a powerful example for us all. Thank you.
I’m truly glad you came to this conclusion for your own sanity. I’ve long felt I can only manage what is in my control. So while I get angry, annoyed and frustrated with this administration for so many reasons, I take comfort in knowing that there are truthful and honorable civil servants in this world like you. And our allies see what’s happening too. Sadly our status in the world has weakened but I think Europe is stronger and we will all be good partners again.
I do too! And I’ve worn out my middle finger for all the images I “ yell” at. One time we were in a hotel having breakfast in the dining room, and JD Vance appeared on the tv. Like one of Pavlov’s dogs, up went my arm and my middle finger. Oops
I doomscroll on SubStack quite a bit. There's a lot of trash and hyperbole here, but there's truth and honesty too. It's like a scavenger hunt to find the right stuff. One of the the things I find consistently is appeals for money. (You do it too, but at least you're consistent with the rest of them and, given the operational model of SubStack, there's no other practical option.)
But I'm a paying subscriber here, and I read nearly all of your pieces and think about them. The main reason is that you have a history of doing the right thing. For most of the people writing here, I don't know what their background is. I do know what yours is. When the J6 committee was doing their thing, you did the right thing. That still means something to me.
Keep it up Adam. Neither of us knows what will happen. But you're still doing the right thing.
I agree wholeheartedly with you! It’s so rare to see someone do the right thing these days and I’ll always appreciate what Adam & Liz did with the J6 Committee. At great cost to their political careers.
Adam, You have chosen a higher path. You will stand with what is right and then you are in God's will. Stepping off that into the mud is stepping out of His will and then you lose His protection. I see you as the man that God has chosen to lead us out of this mess. It may seem overwhelming but just stay in the truth. Then you have all the power of God in you.
