Change has to start somewhere. A Republican/Democratic ticket is a positive, PROACTIVE change and we need positive changes in this country. As an Independent, I could easily consider voting for this type of a ticket. WHAT WE HAVE IS NOT WORKING! We all need to work together to solve our problems to bring this country back from where it is right now. I am constantly writing my Congress people and asking them to work together. Not happening with some so I won’t vote for them. Need to get new thinking in our Congress………
Independent here as well. I totally agree! I’ve been writing to my Congressional legislators every week for months. It feels like a waste of time but I will muster on. Like others I’m worried about the upcoming election and the confusion surrounding it. A family member went to his town office with all proper documentation to register and sign up for an absentee ballot, was told he was successfully registered and would get his ballot in the mail, only to get a call the following week after he’d left town that the state purged the NH voting rolls and he was no longer registered so would have to return in person to re-register. He is unable to return to the area so is now unable to vote in the upcoming election.
That’s the start of what everyone is talking about. Thinking you are registered and you aren’t because Trump and his minions messed with the state voter rolls.
I will be relieved when the election is over and the courts can take over as I’m sure Trump will be unhappy and want to fight even when there will be nothing to fight about. The courts are doing a good job of holding up the Constitution. Too bad our Republican led Congress isn’t doing the same thing.
Thank you for bringing this to the national attention it deserves. I haven’t always agreed with Katie, I am way more liberal than she, but she has opposed and vetoed much of what our crazy legislators have tried to pass. On this issue I am firmly behind her. This is, perhaps, the most important act of her term. I only hope the non-maga’s, the Independents, and the Democrats can pull ourselves together and get this team elected. Which means nobody can sit this election out.

The United States Government has rules. Those running the government agreed to abide by those rules when they accepted their positions - including the President and the Cabinet.
The rules are the Constitution.
“They” do not seem to “Understand” that we EXPECT “them” to play by the rules.

I’ve been waiting for someone to have the spine to do this my whole life and assuming it just wasn’t done. Bravo to Giles and Hobbs. I pray Arizonans understand what a gift this is and accept it and be a beacon for their country.
This coalition news just gave me the chills and the warmest feeling. Go Arizona and Go Giles and Hobbs!!! I want a big tent…..WE need a big tent if we are to beat this lawlessness back and rebuild our nation. Thank you Adam for sharing the good news it grows my hope.
I know that getting people registered to vote is not glamorous work, but it works! If you can, become a voter deputy registrar (VDR) and get those high school students registered to vote and show/teach them that voting/not voting has consequences either way.
Katie Hobbs and John Giles may be exactly what this country needs right now. A Democratic governor and a former Republican mayor sharing one ticket is a real signal that two people from different sides can choose partnership over division.
It echoes an earlier era, when Ted Kennedy and John McCain sat across the aisle and still got things done — problem solvers first, partisans second.
If real change starts at the state and local level, this could be a great start. Hobbs and Giles are giving voters something worth showing up for.
I have always identified as a democrat, even more left leaning. But I vote for a person not a party. There needs to be room for different points of view. I grew up in a staunchly conservative GOP household - Goldwater Republican staunchly - in Kansas. But over time, it became clear the party in its swing to crazy right had left me behind. I defined myself as an independent - and still do - because, until trump ran in 2015 and the GOP became unrecognizable, I voted the person, not the party. However, now (although I continue to define myself as an independent) I will not vote for a Republican because anyone still supporting that party by calling themselves one is demonstrating extremely poor judgment and moral clarity. I hope that whatever comes after the MAGA-defined GOP allows me to return to my conviction that party is not the basis for deciding who I will vote for, but we'll have wait and see. In the meantime, in order to avoid letting the GOP claim more power, Dems will have my votes.
