We have had one for at least 10 years and I have never set foot in it. I don't plan to. I have also seen ACE hardware and the New Orleans Saints on various lists. Hobby Lobby is on the list but most of the big hardware stores are supporting Trump. Home Depot, Lowe's and Ace Hardware. Boycott two of them and hold your nose when go into the other one.

Well said! 90 million people over the age of 18 did not vote. It's going to take one huge incident to occur to get these people off the couch. With Trump and his inexperienced administration it probably is going to be sooner than later. "Martial Law" would get all of us off the couch!!!

Yeah, I have auto and life insurance, checking and savings with USAA. Been with them since 1988. I'm a veteran as well. I agree with "holding my nose." I don't want to cut off my nose to spite my face. I've always had the best service from them. It's never at the ground floor level unless there's corruption; it's almost always at the very top where there IS corruption. Note: The Orange Idiot is doing away with the FDIC, which is what protects our money up to $250,000. So, if something goes awry at the bank, our money is "safe." I think the problem with getting off Facebook is that MAGA WANTS us to be isolated from our community, and getting off FB will do it. At the moment it doesn't seem to me that anything compares to Facebook for keeping in touch with multiple friends on a regular basis who are far away, although I'm hoping such an alternative WILL show up. Many friends have gone to Bluesky, but that seems to be more like x/Twitter. Not all of my friends belong to the people I follow, (like Adam, Heather Cox Richardson) so they wouldn't see my comments. So what are current FB alternatives?

i DID send your video out to several acquaintances just to see what they think of your plea. They are all left-leaning but not extremists. None of their responses were in support of your goal - and some are very cautious about your true intensions "to unite" and fend off trumpism. Agree! I have been reading and listening to her for 4+ years now. If you don't have time to research the news daily for true news, just listen to her each day.

I am outraged to find that the Air Force banned the historical info on the Tuskeegee Airmen. During my teaching career, I always did a unit on them, including showing the movie, for Black History Month, in my Reading class. Wiping out history is what autocrats do.
Adam's comment about checks and balances resonated with me too. I would also like to see more content getting created on how our government works and our rights and responsibilities as citizens. Either by Adam, or others in the pro-democracy space.
I fall into the young Gen X age group. I don't think I've taken a civics class since junior high or maybe high school. I can't help but think I'm not the only one in that category. I think a lot of people could either benefit from a refresher.

There was a great letter to the editor I read in my paper today and it lifted me up and made me feel like I am not alone...that there are still fellow citizens who are level-headed. Keep writing your representatives and senators and send thank yous to Sen. Murkowski, Collins and McConnell for voting against Hegseth. Tell them you stand for the rule of law and the Constitution. I am really disgusted by politicians in general - seeing them as untruthful as a group. In order to "stay in power" truthfulness is not an asset in this realm.

Donald Trumps character has been on display as a politican for about 9 years now. We all have seen the dark side of Trump over and over again. On the other hand Adam Kinzinger has shown to be the complete opposite of all the Republican ring kissers in Congress. He was 1 of only 2 Republicans on the Jan. 6th committee, risked his career as a congressman and served in the military as a pilot in combat. Maybe you should show your acquaintances all 297 videos and written articles he's done so they get a real idea of his "true intensions" People have to be able to distinguish between friend and foe or their lost!!!! Agree! I have been reading and listening to her for 4+ years now. If you don't have time to research the news daily for true news, just listen to her each day.
I also love that HCR provides her sources at the end of her letter. So if you want to investigate further, you have a start and you can also hear her letters on audio or find interviews with her on YouTube.

I agree but at certain point when these idiots refuse to listen to the warnings from good intentioned people and make stupid decision I feel like their actions are deplorable because it hurts others also but I have to say as bad as it is.. I do feel a sense of schadenfreude.. Being well of financial I had little to lose with Trump's win but still I wanted him to lose for the sake of the entire country.

I am outraged to find that the Air Force banned the historical info on the Tuskeegee Airmen. During my teaching career, I always did a unit on them, including showing the movie, for Black History Month, in my Reading class. Wiping out history is what autocrats do.

Adam's comment about checks and balances resonated with me too. I would also like to see more content getting created on how our government works and our rights and responsibilities as citizens. Either by Adam, or others in the pro-democracy space.
I fall into the young Gen X age group. I don't think I've taken a civics class since junior high or maybe high school. I can't help but think I'm not the only one in that category. I think a lot of people could either benefit from a refresher.
Being a citizen in a constitutional republic comes with an expectation that citizens know how their government works and that they take part in it. I think content like you suggested would go a long way to improving things in that department.

If any good came out of the first time around with this POTUS, for me it was an admittedly new openness to listening to voices from the GOP that spoke to me so profoundly. I'm a classic 70s Berkeley liberal, but not too old to grow. I am sorry that your party took the turn it did--clearly it left behind a lot of smart thoughtful caring voices, and I am grateful to hear yours.

When will we have options to take an action beyond communicating with our individual represented? I've never been a party wonk even though I am part of my local government. I imagine our first big opportunity is when one of "the unprotected" is offed. What do we need to have in place before then?
Let's all keep writing letters to the editor to your local newspaper. There was a great letter to the editor I read in my paper today and it lifted me up and made me feel like I am not alone...that there are still fellow citizens who are level-headed. Keep writing your representatives and senators and send thank yous to Sen. Murkowski, Collins and McConnell for voting against Hegseth. Tell them you stand for the rule of law and the Constitution. Timothy Snyder's book On Freedom has tons of suggestions. I highly recommend it. Thank you, Adam, for being you and keeping us all connected.

Well said Tim. I can't believe McConnell in particular finally grew a spine. After all the opportunity he had, but squandered, to lead and inspire others to resist Trump's worst instincts, this is too little too late. No credit due.

But it wasn’t a win. Think about it, if he/they wanted to win, strings could be pulled to actually… win. Seems more of a tactic, than an objective in appeasing moderate republicans without actually achieving anything.
I personally believe it was all orchestrated. They were allowed to cast their votes of 'conscious' and look moderate because the senate Republicans knew they had enough yes votes. In fact, in the comments at another location (Reddit), people predicted a day or two before the actual vote that those three would be no votes on purpose in order to make a show of trotting out Vance to break the tie in order to juice his visibility.

You are right...SO much going on and it reminds me of being a repeat to the chaos we lived under for his entire first term (and the Jan 6th exit). I'm going to have to re-read the novel "In The Wake Of Chaos" by @Delaina Layne who's main character found unique ways as to how to manage the daily attacks to our nervous systems.
