Painting the pool the blue color is clearly a darker color than the original concrete surface. Well everyone knows wearing darker colors will attract more sunlight. More sunlight, more heat. More heat will of course bring the algae on fast, no matter what you do with trying to treat it. Algae LOVES warmer temperatures. Not only that, the bare concrete has been painted over, covered. The natural breathability of concrete was in-effect shut down, therefore algae growth will occur quicker as a result. Sealing off the concrete AND painting it the color they did is like adding more fuel to a fire.
