Nixon was an angel compared to 45 because 45 comes with his own demonic administration and Private

Militia units around the nation that await his call.

We live in frightening times. Every day brings new havoc new cruelty.

Mike Hammer's avatar

Exactly Susan. We’ve been blitzkrieged.

Yes; and the frog in a slowly boiling pot also applies, when assessing the behavior of the GOP Congressional and Senate members over the past 9 years. They could have stopped this multiple times in the first Trump administration, but they were too in love with the power. They are basically traitors, who enabled a tyrant by failing to take obvious action, in favor of their own “careers”.

Why do these rich Billionaires feel the need to have to cut spending on the backs of the Middle and Lower Class workers. Is this spending cutting into and ruining their lives. Will they not to be able to afford the private planes, luxury yachts, luxury automobiles and luxury homes/mansions. Maybe it's because they just like to see people suffer and never get the opportunity to live the American dream. Whether they know it or not their legacy has just taken a hit by associating with Donald Trump. When I look at all these people today I have a much clearer picture of their lack of character.

We need to do something. We can write to the Senators and Representatives in Congress but that seems to be useless. We can protest but the weather right now would make it difficult. Boycotting companies that are SUPPORTING THE REPUBLICAN PARTY makes sense right now. For starters:

These CEO's attended the Trump inauguration:

Elon Musk - Boycott Tesla, X/Twitter

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg - Boycott Facebook and Instagram

Amazon's founder, Jeff Bezos - Boycott Amazon. Whole Foods and Zappos

Apple CEO Tim Cook - Boycott Apple Computer

Shou Zi Chew, TikTok's CEO - Boycott TikTok

Google CEO Sundar Pichai - Boycott Google, Fitbit and Nest

Companies that a majority of their political donations went to Trump/Republicans in alphabetical order:

AAA, Allstate, Applebees, Arby's, A&W, Brooks Shoes, Buffalo Wild Wings, Carl's Jr, Charles Schwab, Chick-Fil-A, Chili's, Coors, Cracker Barrel, Dairy Queen, Delta Airlines, Discount Tire, Dole Food, Dollar Tree, Dunkin Donuts, Duracell, Five Guys, Fruit Of Loom, Great Clips, Goya Foods, Hardee's, HBO, Hobby Lobby, Home Depot, Hooters, IHOP, Jersey Mike's, Jimmy John's, KFC, Krispy Kreme, Little Caesars, LL Bean, Maytag, Michelob, Miller Beer, New Balance, Outback Steakhouse, Panera Bread, Papa John's, Pizza Hut, Procter & Gamble, Taco Bell, Texas Roadhouse, Sirius XM, Wendy's, Whirlpool, White Castle, USAA, Waffle House, Wayfair.

There are many more ring kissers and supporters, do your research: https://www.goodsuniteus.com/

I can't spell it out anymore then this!! If you feel like you can't make that sacrifice, just think of the men and women and their families that are disabled or died in action serving their country for us for our freedom. Vietnam Veteran

thank you for this list to build on! I have seen comments that we can't give up these things that now seem so central to our lives (Amazon was relatively easy, but Apple? that one could hurt) but I will get creative and do my research for what may turn out to be even better alternatives. I have also been wondering about funding - just how much of my contributions to ActBlue and the like is being used effectively? If we all could put in say $10 to a trusted source, we could create a powerful foundation to build good media sources, etc., but where do we send that money? this is another opportunity for strength in numbers if we get it right....

Thanks for trying, it's the least we can do.

The "Dark Ages " are back and getting darker by the minute and this time it's in our country. It seems other countries don't have a problem fighting these Fascist, all I hear in America is crickets.

Headlines: Tesla Faces Boycott Call In Poland Over Musk's WWII Comments.

It was reported the other day in the German press that dozens of the most important large universities in the Germany are leaving Elon Musk’s X platform in protest against its increasingly radical direction. Why isn't our country doing that?

C'mon America get with it before it's to late!!!!!

He’s just warming up. This monster is going to blow through every guardrail there is. Fasten your seatbelts.

Pamela Wing's avatar

That's what we knew was coming. It was spelled out and the Supreme Court gave him the cover. Why not push and just keep pushing, what is anyone going to do about it?

Donald Trump does not know quit. We are in a terrible place and I'm not sure even the Midterms can save us. With the voter suppression, the gerrymandering and other ways to control the vote, is it possible to win seats?

Donna Lindenberg's avatar

"Fasten your seat belts" is part of what I regularly share with friends & family

Recorded history will note that Trump was the supreme criminal. Nobody in the White House could ever come close.

He must be stopped.

Richard Breining's avatar

Agreed. But now that he has Presidential Immunity (courtesy of SCOTUS) he is pretty much unstoppable. IMHO, I think that only SCOTUS can stop him. If any legal cases involving trump come before them, SCOTUS will have the opportunity to overturn or vacate their (insane) decision on Presidential Immunity. Let's hope they do!

John/ Bring It On 🤠🌵🪖's avatar

"I think that only SCOTUS can stop him" NOT SO!!!! I think the 165 million people over the age of 18 that didn't vote for him can stop him. Their called "We The People". He needs to remember that Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, Nicolae Ceaușescu, Muammar Gaddafi and Saddam Hussein all were living the life of Caesar, they did not have a graceful ending.

I Resist's avatar

He doesn’t care, that’s the hubris of egomaniacs. Power is an aphrodisiac! And Hitler, Mussolini…….all did one hell of a lot of damage before they were stopped.

John/ Bring It On 🤠🌵🪖's avatar

Nobody said it would be painless. "Freedom Isn't Free"

Richard Breining's avatar

I understand where you are coming from John. I only pray that SCOTUS realizes their error and self-corrects it because "We The People" might be drawn into a civil war because our elected Congressional leaders so far are either unable or unwilling to stop trump. I do not condone violence and hope it never comes to that. Having said that, I remain ready for anything.

Donna Lindenberg's avatar

Richard Breining,

I'd like to believe that... but unfortunately I think it's wishful thinking.

Richard Breining's avatar

Agreed, but hope springs eternal. At least for me it does!

Darrell Smith's avatar

Much debate can be made over what constitutes an "official act". Is it an official act if it is forbidden by the Constitution? Much of what Trump thinks he can do is contrary to the Constitution. He believes that he is above the law. It will be a moot point soon I believe.

(Eleanor) Lorie Johnson's avatar

Yes, they gave him a get out of jail free card without an expiration date so of course he’s going to break every law he chooses to.

Pat in AZ's avatar

I don't think we can count on SCOTUS. I wish Biden had tried to expand the it.

Keith B Dixon's avatar

Preferably by assassination.

Dorothy Ann Bowers's avatar

unfortunately, that would make him a martyr and his MAGAites would be even more determined to enact his agenda.

Keith B Dixon's avatar

I think you are correct – unfortunately!!

Mike Hammer's avatar

Let’s pray it’s us recording that history.

Mike Hammer's avatar

“The most important thing is that we maintain plausible deniability.” - Richard Nixon.

As you say Adam, I don’t think Trump is concerned with that anymore, which is an understatement.

Sigrid Mosmann's avatar

He is doing all this because he knows he can. Who's gonna stop him? Seems the elected officials - even Democrats - are too busy cowering or "trying to get along", SCOTUS is his personal law firm, the media is downplaying and normalizing almost everything and, as with guns, all I think the concerned citizens are ever going to get are "thoughts and prayers". And when he gets Mr. Hegseth - between drunken binges - to send the army after US citizens who don't fall in line or speak up, who's gonna stop them? Truly sad.

Gigi's avatar

One look at white house.gov proves he is a legend in his own mind, and a very dangerous one. He freed rioters who would do anything for him and took away security for those who needed it. He fired inspector generals on a weekend at 3 am because he didn’t have the nerve to face them. He told us that we would never have to vote again. What are we waiting for? He’s only going to get worse every time he gets away with his crimes.

Sigrid Mosmann's avatar

Unfortunately, it seems that the people who are in a position to actually do something - the elected officials, the people in positions of political power - are (except for a few exceptions), for whatever reason, staying pretty silent as far as I can tell. I don't understand why the "normal" Republicans are not putting pressure on those of the Trump cult, I don't understand why there is not more outrage or pushback. He should be removed from office for being patently unfit, for appointing people to positions that clearly endanger the security of the country, etc. etc. I wish I had the answers, but I agree with you - the more he gets away with, the more emboldened he will be - and that "never voting again" thing is the sights of his cabal. Why anybody voted for him is still beyond me.

JF's avatar

Random anger is the prevailing feature of MAGA; that’s the wave Trump rides. You see it daily in life.

Good point - he so wants to be like Hitler - and is actually doing a pretty convincing job of working towards that - so hopefully he will some day get his just rewards for the cruelty and hate that he spread. Still waiting on karma .....

So, tell me why the military hasn’t surrounded DC and taken all of the traitors into custody?

Emily's avatar

Why can’t they surround and arrest the orange felon? He clearly has no intention of honoring his so called oath. He didn’t last time, he won’t ever as he doesn’t understand the meaning of the word. He even blatantly did not place his hand on the Bible which to me is giving the finger to America and saying “watch me dismantle everything this country stands for and I’ll get away with it while anyone who could or could have stopped me is carefully following the rules. “ 😡😡😡

I often feel like a “palace coup” is the only thing that might save us. We will never make it through 4 years.

This is what's going on in a nutshell and highlights the danger we're all in...

"What’s not to understand? Trump acted because he could—and because he believed he could get away with it. In this way, the IG purge aligns with Trump’s unconstitutional claim that the 14th Amendment does not confer citizenship on all children born in the U.S. The courts have long regarded birthright citizenship as a settled issue. Trump, however, views himself as a law unto himself and simply doesn’t care.''

Julie's avatar

Nixon wouldn't have even been investigated today, not with the Supreme Court the way it is, allowing presidents to do whatever they want. And The Washington Post would never allow reporters to investigate, what with Jeff Bezos being so enmeshed with T. (As an aside, I wonder if the oligarchs fight over who gets to be with T. Do they take turns? T loves this.)

It is an embarrassment to the country to have so many weak cowards in Congress.

My mother liked Nixon, she will tell you which policies he passed, clean drinking water, EPA, lower voting age, etc… he did govern and did good things for America; however, she will go on to say he should have been prosecuted for his part in Watergate.

Today, holocaust Remembrance Day, should give us all pause to reflect on government and politics and how words can be manipulated to create evil actions.

This morning on TCM were two movie documentaries about the nazi regime. The resemblance to our current situation was chilling. God bless America 🇺🇸

Trump trump long ago succeeded in getting the entire Republican congress to bend over and grab its ankles. Congress in turn has to obey the MAGA base, which has been programmed by the Republican media apparatus. If you want to stop them , you'll have to overcome the right wing media.

Jeff the Original's avatar

I've been saying that for about 6 years. It was the election of Trump in 2016 that got me back to visiting Fox News (I was GOP at the time) and observing how they were covering Trump. I also signed up and started posting on the various news stories.

OMG...I couldn't hardly believe that brainwashed drivel that they called "arguments" for what Trump was doing. Not to mention that I began to fact-check the news stories and headlines....and again...I was totally gob-smacked by the misleading headlines, the rabid focus on Hillary Clinton (2-3 articles a week during Trump's Presidency) and just simply the barrage of "Dems bad; GOP/Trump/MAGA good" messaging.

The worst thing was when Paul Pelosi got attacked and 99% of the posts were just so callous and mean...focusing on stupid conspiracy theories and zero concern about the victim. It was beyond disgusting.

They are abusing the First Amendment...and this is a public safety concern that should override it in some form or fashion.

I was involved involves in a debate forum called debate politics back in the obama administration and the beginning of the trump administration. It was okay the first couple of years , but by about mid 2017 I couldn't even carry on a conversation with those maga types. They lived in a completely different reality, and had completely abandoned any need for truth. They argued by posting garbage articles from gateway pundit and random videos from youtube that they expected me to watch to figure out what they really thought.

JF's avatar

I call it “propaganda media”. That’s what baffles me. In the name of free speech we opened the door to the demise of our democracy. The internet was the tool, and we were unprepared for the ramifications.

Jill Stoner's avatar

"In the name of free speech we opened the door to the demise of our democracy." Perfectly succinct!!

Back to my original response. Why hasn’t the military surrounded DC and taken the traitors into custody. If we are going to have a Civil War anyway, let’s get this shit over with.

Jeff the Original's avatar

Because the military works for DJT?

Jeff the Original's avatar

He's the Commander in Chief so they all work for him. Some are willing to accept illegal orders I bet.

Susan's avatar

Not all of them. Some actually honor their oath to the Constitution.

Jeff the Original's avatar

I'm retired military. I confidently say that vast majority would not execute illegal orders, BUT my confidence about how many has taken numerous hits over the past 8 years...unfortunately.

Susan's avatar

I hear ya. I was really hoping they would have already arrested the group responsible for treason.

Jane Nordli Jessep's avatar

Nixon did say "if the president does it, it isn't illegal..." while doing an interview with David Frost, post presidency. AND he and Roy Cohn were buddies, as were FOTUS 47 and Roy Cohn. Roy Cohn, for those who don't know the name was a pretty despicable guy, in more ways than can be described here. No question that Nixon was far less of a threat to democracy, orders of magnitude less.

Sandra Lord's avatar

Thank you, Jane, for mentioning Roy Cohn. I had forgotten Cohn was also connected to Nixon. Anyone who does not understand Donald Trump needs to study Roy Cohn.

Emily's avatar

Jane, I love the name FOTUS for him. He doesn’t deserve POTUS.
