This past week the world has learned about an extremely close relationship between President Donald Trump and his assistant Natalie Harp. If you haven’t seen the details, they are disturbing, to say the least.
Put succinctly, Harp is obsessed with the president. She travels with him everywhere, sprints wildly to keep up with his golf cart, and wrote him letters that left even the staunchest MAGA defenders uncomfortable.
Interestingly, the fondness runs both ways. When Trump secretly evacuated Air Force one in a catering truck, Harp was one of the few aides he took with him.
However, this column is not about Harp and Trump’s relationship. It’s about a subject that many in DC are avoiding.
The press already knew about Harp’s bizarre obsession. And they were keeping it from you on purpose.
Some details have been reported, sure. But the real depth of it? They’ve been holding back.
And just in case you think I am making something out of nothing, the Secret Service flagged Harp as a “potential danger to herself and the president” according to author Michael Wolff. Even calling her a potential “time bomb.”
Compounding the security issues, Harp worked for over a year without a security clearance.
And if this story was there the whole time, why has the press held back? Well, there are two reasons.
The first is that they didn’t want to lose access to Trump or their sources in the administration, so they looked the other way.
The second, and this is the more likely reason, they were saving the juicy details for future books.
Either way, the deeper truth is the same: many in the mainstream press are not telling you the whole truth because their business model is broken.
