The difference between you and the convicted felon’s sycophants is that you put your country first. The love of your country comes before your own career. You made the right choice, Adam. Thank you. 🫡

Ok, I'm butting in here -- mea culpa, mea culpa -- but y'all gotta watch this video I just stumbled onto, and do pass it along. It IS obliquely relevant to the discussion here, so I hope it's okay -- a parody of the Bigly Orange Malevolent Pooh Butt's regime to The Bee Gees hit tune "Stayin' Alive" -- except this is "Sayin' A Lie" and it's absolutely hilarious & brilliant. Enjoy and pass it along!

Oh my goodness! Ok, so I have an extreme love of parodies. I mean, they are 100% my guilty pleasure, I get way too excited about them, & I'm not ashamed to admit it. This one was excellent! Loved the visuals! A true work of art! Thanks for sharing!

Floofie Snapz Back!'s avatar

It IS a true work of art and cracks me up every time I watch it! So glad you enjoyed it, too!

I noticed the name Keith Edwards at the end of the video and wondered if it was a former student of my husband’s, originally from Parsippany NJ.

Floofie Snapz Back!'s avatar

Maybe... who knows... Contact the video maker and inquire!

Bonnie Sommer's avatar

Good idea. Thanks.

Courage has been in short supply and certainly not contagious. But I appreciate your bravery and outspokenness.

Skepticat's avatar

As do we all, for that's why we're here.

Mike Hammer's avatar

But Adam, you made the only choice you could have made considering your high standards, ethics, and moral compass. The other republicans are “dug in like an Alabama tick” (Predator). I hope that your hope is contagious.

Adam Kinzinger's avatar

Or… only choice because of my oath. Which sadly has been forgotten by the others

Mike Hammer's avatar

Follow your oath, not the oaf!

Sally Sprague's avatar

100 percent! What does this person eat or drink before bed? Sure creepy. Isn’t there a country to run rather than worry about Rosie O’Donnell citizenship? 🤔

S H's avatar

Exactly. So many are dishonoring their oaths

JMull's avatar

Your ethics, standards and morality gave you no choice but to follow our oath.

The spineless republicans, represented by your fictional character in the story, will be remembered and reviled for lacking the courage to confront the raving orange megalomaniac and vote down his pathetic personnel nominations. They are all unqualified, unthinking inhumane imbeciles. I wish them all to Alligator Alcatraz.

Kathy Pope's avatar

Yes it’s because of your oath but also your integrity, moral code, ethics and a love of country! You are what a real man is supposed to be! Thank you Adam for doing the right thing no matter the cost!

Duty, honor, country - totally lost on MAGA - replaced with Corruption, Compliance, Cowardice. Very sad for us veterans and everyone else with a conscious. Good story, Adam, restacking!

Serious question. Do you think some of these guys are being blackmailed or receiving threats to the safety of their families from the administration? It 's so hard to believe that we can't find 5 GOP Senators (that's all it would take to form a majority with the Dems and the 2 indies) to step up?

John Kloc's avatar

It may be a reason Trump has reversed course on Epstein. Think of the blackmail potential a customer list has. As long as it’s under wraps Trump can use it as leverage to get anything he wants.

Robot Bender's avatar

I don't think Trump is the only one who has a copy of that list. 🤔 As you say, blackmail material.

Aviva Patt's avatar

You give them too much credit. They are chickenshits but their fear isn't for the safety of their families. Their fear is losing their seat in Congress and having to get a real job. Just another reason we need term limits.

Mike Hammer's avatar

Bonny, I think that it’s a combination of being smeared, primaried, losing power (which they so covet) and last but not least violence and death threats.

Diana Talbott's avatar

Oh yeah. Bought and paid for. History will tell.

Ric's avatar

These days that might well

be a Talabaman tick.

This is what truth looks like. This is what integrity looks like. This is what compassion looks like. This is what speaking from the heart looks like. And it does get easier once you make that step. No matter what the issue is a step toward truth is a step in really the only direction that matters. Thank you, Adam for putting this simply and clearly from someone who knows and has been there and walked that path

It's Come To This's avatar

And the reverse — this is what happens when your political party, in its extreme, dishonest arrogance, knowingly throws its weight behind a dumb, illiterate, incoherent, sociopathic monster only because you think he will serve your ends.

Then he turns on you and starts eating your face for breakfast.

I’m inclined to send the monster some mint sauce.

Sally Harris's avatar

Agree 💯…Thank you, Adam. This is why I follow your posts. Thanks for continuing to share the reality of what’s going on.

Ric's avatar

Adam, thanks for being there for us when it mattered. After John McCain, you and Liz Cheney were the last in the GOP to comprehend service to our country. Thanks for your integrity and doing the right thing no matter the personal cost…

Austen Musil's avatar

Such a valid point. I cried the day John McCain died. I had just gotten back from a float trip. Plugged my phone in at the campsite & saw the news right away. I remember thinking that there was no one left in the Republican party brave enough to stand up to him.

I remember when I first started hearing Adam speak up after Jan 6th. I was comforted to hear people in the Republican party pushing back. It was comforting to know Adam was in there speaking out & fighting from the inside.

WayneNW's avatar

Terrific story Adam. God I wish you were the president. We sorely need someone with moral fiber. Well, with ANY fiber.

Mari Wilson's avatar

Here, hear! I always forget if it's here here or hear hear, so I went with both! Lol.

Michael Otter's avatar

Great story Adam! How true. You took an oath office and decided to live that oath to honor and defend the Constitution. Integrity is another cornerstone of good and honest people. A person who was like a father to me, a physician in public medicine, shared a thought with me that has resonated with me for the better part of my adult life. He said, "You enter this world with all of the integrity you will ever have, and you should leave it with no less." Words to live by.

MARGARET KENDALL's avatar

Thanks, Michael. Love that quote.

This will be their legacy for eternity. Their children and grandchildren will change their last names to dissociate their children from their treasonous actions. Benedict Arnold at least had the decency to leave this country.

Paul Schlotthauer's avatar

And even then, his dishonor remained. The British despised him, even though he was trying to help them defeat the Americans, because he betrayed his own people for gain. So should these Congresspeople be despised, wherever they go, for their complicity in the obscenity of Donald Trump and his evil regime.

Jeff Lazar's avatar

You made the right choice and history will treat you kindly, I am sure.

M Virginia Hill's avatar

I pray you are correct, Adam.

I’m reading WWII book by Shirer

And it s horrible

To see how easily hitler Tramped crossed Europe but in the end he was stopped. The Nuremberg trials (like jan7 committee) showed clearly

Robot Bender's avatar

I've been rereading that book, too. The similarities are too close to be coincidence.

Steve Undercofler's avatar

Thank you Adam!

Maura's avatar

Beautifully written, Adam. The Republicans in Congress today are complicit and compromised. Trump and the donors own them. They have been rendered useless.

This is the time for the Democratic Party to show strength. It is the Opposition Party now. The people are ready and able. We need some leadership.

However, with or without the leadership we need, the American people will show strength; we will protest; we will organize; we will form coalitions. We Will Prevail!

Cindy Marshall's avatar

Wow Adam! This was powerful! I can feel your pain and hope writing this was cathartic! I can feel the shame of your Republican friend. How sad he can't or won't look to his Higher Power to know he would have a life after doing the right thing! Now he'll live in shame and not be able to hold his head high!

Thank you for doing the right thing and I am truly sorry for the pain it has caused you. Hopefully, in the span of your life, this will be just a blip while Christian will be SO proud!

Pat Jones Garcia's avatar

Oops! Seems I misunderstood the last sentence of your comment, so I deleted my original one.

Hi Pat! Thanks for responding! I do know that not everyone is Christian. My 2 best friends are Jewish and Buddhist. We appreciate each other for believing in the Golden Rule! I basically accept all good people and hope we can come together to defeat the evil regime that is stealing our democracy.

Floofie Snapz Back!'s avatar

Hi, Cindy~~ regardless of Adam's son's name, I absolutely agree with your beliefs and that you "basically accept all good people." Well said! And well-lived! And yes let's do THAT -- "come together to defeat the evil regime that is stealing our democracy."

Pam Smith's avatar

He was talking about Christian Kinzinger, not the Christian religion.

S H's avatar

I’m sending this to all three of the Rs who represent me. Bravo Adam

Mari Wilson's avatar

Love this idea!! YESSS!!

Pat Jones Garcia's avatar

Your emails or letters are likely seen only by aides but try anyhow. I have.

MARGARET KENDALL's avatar

I'd like to forward it to mine, too, but (at least with my manner of technology) I am unable to send attachments or forward emails to congresspersons. For now that wonderful piece goes in my Archives folder.

Paula Youngblood's avatar

Excellent! Hope you run for office again. We need people like you to prevent this mess from re-occurring!
