Thank you Adam. I am proud of all of us for choosing not to be like Pilate and wash our hands when we see cruelty and unfairness. This year Easter has meant a lot more than usual to me. Seeing people choose to spend their holiday weekend out protesting injustices felt very appropriate 💐💕

The people are doing their part right now by protesting but we need the Democrats to set up a spokesperson to do a news conference same time everyday covered by the news media pointing out the tyrants recent cruel acts. Somebody on the Democrats side please wake up!!!

If we want to get rid of these tyrants we need to be consistent and relentless:

1. NEXT PROTEST: Thursday May 1st https://maydaystrong.org/

https://bsky.app/profile/50501movement.bsky.social

TESLA TAKEDOWN: check your city https://www.teslatakedown.com/

2. Boycott ---------------- Companies of CEO's & Exec. Officers who attended the Inauguration: Tesla, X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Amazon/Amazon Prime, Apple Computer/Apple TV, TikTok, Google and others https://www.goodsuniteus.com/

3. Call/E-mail/Message -------------- all Senators & Congressman tell them how you feel about these important issues.

4. Donate ---------------- If you can afford it donate to the organizations that are doing the legal fights. https://democracyforward.org/ - https://www.citizen.org/ - https://www.citizensforethics.org/ - https://www.aclu.org/ These groups are suing the Trump administration virtually every day.

5. Join -------------------- https://www.country1st.com/ - https://indivisible.org/ - https://www.commoncause.org/ - https://pol-rev.com/

6. Attend -----------------Town Hall meetings

7. I hope we never have to get to this option because it's the worst option of all, which I won't mention here. "Freedom Isn't Free" Vietnam Veteran

May 1st is also LAW DAY, codified into public law in 1961; thus, it is the perfect day to rally our support of our Constitution and the rule of law. This year May 1 is on a Thursday, so there may be protests and other activities planned for that day or the upcoming weekend. Keep an eye out!

I shared the message. THANK YOU.

Thanks for continuing to spread the word, John - you are a great asset to this community.

Mr. Kinzinger:

You are the leader for America!

I have been a Republican all my life -- (70 years), just a RINO today, and that is stretch. Never voted for Trump!

You are the light -- today (Easter) is a day to reflect.

May the Lord continue to give you the words to preach the word of Democracy.

I pray the mid-terms guide us to the heavens, vs the direction we appear to be going too :-(

RINO -- Ed (RINO is questionable)

Adam, this is precisely the balm we need right now. You’ve reminded us that Easter isn’t a sugar‑coated truce with reality but a rallying cry: even the darkest betrayals and the deepest wounds can give way to renewal, in a political climate that prizes outrage over honesty, your insistence that “truth matters, even when it costs you” cuts through the noise like a beacon.

I especially love your point about community—that resurrection isn’t a solo act. It’s a reminder that none of us can weather this storm alone. When you talk about returning to our people, you’re challenging us to rebuild solidarity brick by brick: sharing uncomfortable truths, listening across divides, and refusing to let cynicism win.

So here’s to refusing Pilate’s hand‑washing. Here’s to leaning into the discomfort of standing up, speaking out, and insisting that our better angels guide us forward. The chaos may roar, but as you say, change only blooms when we choose hope over fear—and walk that path together. Thank you for leading us toward better days.

Well said Dino. Your statement to rebuild solidarity brick by brick really resonated with me. Both times my husband and I participated in local rallies, that’s what it felt like. But it still feels like it’s not enough somehow.

Dino Alonso's avatar

Joan, you're right; it's not enough. I'm afraid the coming storm will require our energy and our reserves, but I dearly hope not our lives, collectively or individually. Storm or tempest in a golden teacup, I'm here for it. We can do this.

Beautiful Dino! Thanks!

I agree with this comment and appreciate being reminded of the truths of the season. Many thanks to Adam Kinzinger for sharing the reality and perspective that truth always matters. Loudly, boldly and with persistent united enthusiasm truth will prevail. Truth has to be louder than lies!

I hope this is an ok ask here. I am asking everyone who follows to write the Supreme Court and implore them to uphold the Constitution and the rule of law. I have sent a note to each justice. All the current ones and the court address is easily found on line . It may be the best stand as so many issues will go through the courts. Thank you

Bill Corbett's avatar

I did this on Thursday, but only to the six Supreme Court Justices in my state of Kansas. I guess I should sent the same to the nine SCJ's on the Federal Bench.

Ref: Justice for Kilmar Abrego Garcia

Justice Stegall, Justice Rosen, Justice Wilson, Justice Wall, Justice Luckert, and Justice Standridge,

I have never written to a Judge in my life and certainly not to the group of Kansas Supreme Court Justices, until now.

I am writing today to express my gravest concern for the rule of law and what I’m witnessing unfold with the President of the United States and the fate of Kilmar Abrego Garcia and his deportation to the El Salvadoran Cecot prison with no due process. I fear for him as if I were in his shoes, because if he can be yanked off the street and ferreted out of the country then I or anyone of us could be. If he has no justice, then we are soon to have no justice either as a people or nation.

I don’t know what you can do about this injustice, but impeachment of the President would be a just remedy I would support and recommend. My hope here is that you are getting like responses to this crisis by other constituents here in the State of Kansas and I wanted to be on the record of saying this is not justice served.

As a 76-year-old veteran I cannot be silent because I took an oath in 1967 to defend this country and what it stood for, not this.

Thank you for listening to my concern.

Bravo, Bill! Well done. I’m going to use this as a template for my own letter writing campaign. I appreciate you sharing your message.

Yesterday, I stood alongside Veterans protesting the administration’s obvious disregard for the rule of law and the freedoms these Vet’s also took an oath to defend and uphold. We discussed the deep sorrow of seeing the nation’s flag now displayed upside down as a symbol of distress. The angst is palpable, but the hope —as Adam wrote of today —feels ALIVE! More voices are joining the chorus, and the audience is being broadened, just like you have done in reaching out to the Kansas Supreme Court.

Thank you for your service and for setting such an excellent example.

Me, too. 77 YO combat Vietnam vet; pissed off! We don’t fight wars and risk everything for fascist dictators who only care about personal money and power! This team is raping us all; total grifters.

Though I long ago ceased celebrating Easter it still remains a great story to wrestle with. Every bit of being a human is embedded in its telling. Your entry today almost brought me to tears. Thank you for writing this and have a lovely, loving day.

(Of course part of me keeps hoping the Easter bunny will still leave a basket.....maybe full of hope.).

Figment Of Imagination's avatar

Yes. A basket full of Hope. Hoping we all receive that.

Spot on, Adam. A dear friend who voted for Trump told me, “Well, he’s my president, not my savior.” That’s a very unwise perspective. None of us is perfect. However, we can “know people by their fruit.” So we know when a person is working toward righteousness in the three ways you emphasized. Blessings on your day with your family!

Fascism vitally needs rampant cynicism as its fuel. After two decades of GOP/Fox propaganda, we're finally there. The GOP convinced its voters that all politicians are corrupt criminals, and that therefore "character" in a leader can no longer be hoped for. Instead, we just need to pick our "own bad guy" and then hope for the best.

That's what happens when a party is taken over by people who believe that morality and compassion is for dreamers, rather than having the spine of steel needed to keep cultivating it, including and most of all when things are difficult...

In April my friend Louise and I went to the protest in our tiny town. We hooked arms as the elderly tend to do and remarked to each other that the last time we did this together was May 9 1970. So we walk, all of us together and we will continue to do so. We will speak truth to power. The corrupt tyrants will not win in the end. Thank you Adam
