While global conflicts rage and alliances fray, the Pentagon’s leadership has found time to target Scouting America for admitting girls and confronting its past.
Pete Hegseth, weekend TV personality turned Defense Secretary, is now threatening to cut ties with Scouting America because girls are allowed to participate.
This is what passes for national security leadership: a man who spent half a day in egress training for a photo op in a fighter jet is now waging ideological war against… the Boy Scouts. Sorry, Scouting America.
Not focused on readiness. Not addressing recruitment challenges. Not managing actual threats. Instead: targeting an organization that’s produced generations of service members because it dared to let girls learn knot-tying.
This is the guy assembling all top military brass in one location for a loyalty test. The guy obsessing over beards and uniform patches while actual strategic challenges go unaddressed. The guy who told generals “if we can’t trust you to wear your uniform right, how can we trust you with a $200 million airplane?”—the dumbest thing any commander can say.
Culture war distractions are easier than competent leadership.

Hegseth’s legacy will be threatening librarians, renaming ships, and declaring war on Girl Scouts while actual adversaries watch America’s military leadership implode from manufactured culture grievances.

My son is working on his Eagle Scout project right now, and I am delighted that the organization is pissing off Hegseth. They needed to address the past abuse that took advantage of vulnerable boys. Admitting girls makes the organization better, not worse.
ADAM, all these MAGA congressmen are calling it quits. They cannot stand Trump yet afraid to say anything negative so they are quitting. Even if they are not running they are afraid if they go against him before November they have an excellent chance that he will have their home burned down. YES he does that. Female judge ruled against him in SC and bingo her home was burned down 3 days later and husband had to jump out the windows. Expanding Scouts to include girls has only improved the organization. Girl Scouts is great, but for those girls wishing for more camping and outdoor adventures, Scouts may be a better fit. My son is an Eagle Scout. He’s been to Jamboree and many other high adventures. Including female troops in these events is a positive thing. Another Eagle Scout from his troop is openly gay, which is a non-issue. They support one another and the inclusivity is a positive thing!
