I'm shocked and embarrassed that when I brought this link (Charlie's hate speech on video) to the attention of a member of my family that person had the stupidity to respond by sending me a different link where Charlie was not spouting his hate routine. Please tell my brother that, we agreed not to discuss politics some time ago. However, he called me “loaded for bear”, accusing me of enjoying Mr. Kirk’s death. Accusing me of being a left wing democrat, and stated that we are responsible for all the violence in the country. He continued to rant about the “highly educated people” who no nothing, that was meant as a dig because I am a retired educator. I tried to reason with him, I am a registered Democrat, a moderate, and before maga, did on occasion vote for a republican based on their beliefs. Utah Law enforcement has emphatically said that the kid was NOT involved with any left-sided radical political groups, but that it was his fetish for over-involvement of deep-seated social media and incessant playing of violent video games which influenced his actions. I, too, was an educator…administrator with special need youngsters among those for whom I advocated..still do. Mine was not to demean any special need child. Mine was to say the current president has characteristics aligned to some special need characteristics. He’s low functioning, lacks compassion for others and mean. The problem with Democrats, I have often thought, is not their platform, but the delivery of their message. The GOP is much better at it. Trump is great at promoting hate. It's sad that he succeeds. I'm impressed by James Talarico who states that he is a Christian and who strongly believes in the Separation of Church and State. I'm also impressed by Terry Virts who served for years high up in NASA. Thirdly, there is Colin Allred (please forgive any mis-spellings) who almost won his race for Senator from Texas the last go-round. All three are apparently going into the Democratic primaries coming up. I have written to them to speak with one another and pledge that whomever wins the primary will have their full support. Personally, I wish each of them would be going for important positions but not against one another. I wonder whether Adam will address this issue.

Agree, except for the point about the GOP being better messengers. They sound ridiculous, and if it weren't for Trump, they would be struggling to get support. The MAGA base doesn't like Mike Johnson, or Mitch McConnel, or Kevin McCarthy, etc. These people feel like they're on top of a powerful movement, but MAGA just views them as a means to an end. "As long as you support Trump, we'll keep you around." Their messaging is trash, but all they have to do is repeat after Trump.

I agree that the GOP message is greatly flawed, but it's effective as well. Trump won the last election because Democrats had no time to put a campaign together, I believe. But what put them over the top was their ability to convince a majority of Americans that the economy was bad and that rewards awaited them. All the bs that Trump spewed was absorbed. It seems that it's always about the economy but Democrats focused on other issues, again, without enough time. Yes? No?

Adam, this is so dangerous. I only heard parts of the speeches from yesterday and was so alarmed. Stephen Miller is spewing such hateful words. I want to know and understand who "THEY" are. "THEY" seems to be some undefinable group. Is this anyone who enters into debate at all? Who makes a slight off any record remark that is overheard? The president's remarks only stoke fear and promote more violence. I have not yet read of any cause for why the shooter took the action he did, so how does this qualify as any organized group that caused Mr. Kirk to be killed? I am horrified at the killing of anyone. Mr. Kirk should be mourned by his family and close friends, and followers. I did not see or hear of any true mourning at all.

How can they fight this? and maybe they are doing what they can - many I know are in swing districts and must remain bipartisan and speak out for the most egregious things like the BBB losing healthcare or they will lose their seat in 2026. Trump loves Trump, and that's it.
I would urge our readers to pull up a YouTube video of James Tallerico sermonizing about Christian Nationalism. He is running for Senate as a Democrat in Texas. It perfectly describes what is going on in our government today. If you agree with his comments, I would urge you to consider supporting him. I think the Senate needs such a person right now.

Adam, i listen to part of the service. I never thought I would say, Tucker Carlson, was spot on in honoring his friend, and he did not demonize the other while doing so. The rest of the speakers such as Miller saying the other was the cause and Johnson saying that Trump and the Administration members were anointed by God made my blood run cold.
Trump’s speech was literally hate speech.
