How come the universities have to pay $500 million (Harvard) or the presidents have to step down for allegedly not holding their students accountable for antisemitism, but JD gives the YRs a pass? They went after and arrested students at Columbia and Tufts just bc they wanted Gaza civilians not to be bombed or starved. Thats not antisemitic and our Jewish Gov (Shapiro PA) was also calling for civilian protections in Gaza. Half my fam is Jewish. This is definitely NOT JUST STUPID STUFF. YRs advocating for firing up ovens, raping women, calling black people “monkeys” or “N******” is not stupid teenage angst… these are the future YR leaders we’re talking about.

I read it yesterday, and was thoroughly disturbed & disgusted by it. Just as disgusted & shocked by Vance’s response. This isn’t boys will be boys. These are young men, not children. It is hateful & unacceptable stances.
The solution, according to Brooks, “Nonviolent protests put authoritarian regimes in a lose-lose situation: Either cede the streets to the protesters, or crack down in ways that weaken your legitimacy. If a movement seeks only to please its own radicals, it fails. If it uses action to change the narrative and persuade the mainstream, it has a good chance of success”…..
And then he concludes with hope…
….the spirit of the country, although perhaps dormant, still lives. Trumpism is ascendant now, but history shows that America cycles through a process of rupture and repair, suffering and reinvention. This process has a familiar sequence. Cultural and intellectual change comes first—a new vision. Social movements come second. Political change comes last.”
IOW, pretty much what Adam Kinzinger and Country1st is leading the way with. Now if only democrats will as well. 🙏

Would be great to hear them together; Brooks’ historical background and Kinzinger’s contemporary boots on the ground experience together are very powerful and convincing view of path forward.

I think you get a little more substance from his podcast than news nation?! I did see that he had Don Jr on news nation (I wish he didn’t give him oxygen, but he definitely pushed back on him). That’s why we need Adam on there to counter balance. He has also had that young podcaster on. I think staying within the bubble is not always effective. Like Adam says, we feel good when we’re with our tribe but I talk about Adam every chance I can get and I’m amazed at how many people aren’t familiar with him…. Did you watch the one I shared here? The one you shared was from a year ago. He is solo on the one I shared and I think he draws all sides because he gives people an opportunity to see both sides. Adam, on October 18th there will be a peacefully protest for the Felon, Trump. He has declared war on our Constitution, our rule of law, and our federal courts. He has sought absolute, unchecked power. He has proclaimed the free press to the "enemy of the people". He has invented false emergencies to seize powers that he does not have. He has unleashed the military in our cities without our consent. He has sent masked and unidentified men to abduct us. He has undermined vaccines and dismantled the agencies that protect us from plagues, putting American lives at risk. He has abused the power of the presidency to attack and prosecute his political opponents. He has attempted to stifle our speech and silence our dissent. And finally, the Felon has exploited his office to enrich himself, his family, and his friends. Surely, there is something in our Constitution and Amendments that could condemn all these horrible actions, and yet he still pulls them off daily making Americans sick to their stomachs. Both sides of the Isle know all this, yet they sit there waiting for more shoes to drop from this condemned criminal. The Felon thinks he has the whole world in his small hands and thinks he's God's gift to mankind.
Even an idiot gets it right occasionally. Thrilled that the remaining hostages are finally home and holding the families whose loved ones didn’t or came home in a bag in my heart. May their memories be a blessing and may these families and friends have all the support available to heal from this unbelievable pain and trauma. But I feel the same way… some of my family is all in on Trump now bc of this one thing and is ignoring everything else that’s he’s doing. Crazy!!!
