Voting is the answer to this. I feel I’m screaming into the ether. This fight for democracy and the future of the USA can only be won through this election. Adam, you will be remembered for your courage in what is an epic battle.

WayneNW's avatar

Voting is the answer only if everyone votes and all votes are counted. I fear that won't be the case.

Richard Breining's avatar

Trump's "rigged election" lies, along with his (party's) efforts to "protect election integrity" has resulted in widespread unfounded fear in our elections. Speaking for myself, I refuse to be fearful. I will vote for people who are fundamentally honest and demonstrate a willingness to serve the American People rather than their own selfish goals. No matter how long Trump, Vance and others like them attempt to get elected to public office, I will NEVER vote for them! I trust that the majority of my fellow Americans will do the same. "In God We Trust!"

Marty Smith's avatar

I also believe in the American voters to do what they know is right. There needs to be a % of MAGAts that have seen the light and understand what is really at stake. I hope that those that do not exercise their right to vote do so. There can be no standing on the sidelines for this election.

Diane1's avatar

voting is still the answer no matter the fears.

WayneNW's avatar

Yes, everyone must vote. That is the foundation of who we are.

Thanks for last night with Olivia Troy. It has been my long time hope that you both would rally together. Remember, those that judge you, only have part of the story since Jan 6. I always say... "you can't watch half the football game and claim you know how the whole game went"! Keep up the great work and I will continue to spread your message 🇺🇸💙🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸

Preaching to the choir here amigo. Nobody else will listen to logic and common sense. What a country.

Richard Breining's avatar

Don't stop preaching! If even one Trump supporter starts to question their loyalty to him, THAT is a victory. Trump, Vance and their supporters (think MTG for example) are currently spewing more lies and misinformation than ever before. Anyone with a modicum of common sense can see this. I believe that this deluge of lies and misinformation will cost them votes, and the 2024 election.

Marty Smith's avatar

The lies of no aid to Florida was/is despicable and another unforgivable offence against the American public. Even more so by those affected by them.

Joelle Greig's avatar

I don't have to listen to logic and common sense because, I AM logic and common sense. I am not alone; there are many of you who ARE the same, otherwise you wouldn't be posting here. It's because of us, the actions we have taken and continue to ensure that this country remain a Constitutional Republic. God bless y'all.

Thanks Adam for writing about Vance and the Campfire last night!

Actually, I think Vance is scarier than trump. At least with trump you know what you're getting. With Vance, he is as slick as an oily salesman. Even scarier is Musk! With those 3 plus Bannon, Stephen Miller and Michael Flynn, this is far scarier than anyone thought possible. I had planned moving to another country; however, I feel with the above team the whole world will be in danger. Then we will REALLY need Adam, this Substack and Country First to navigate this new life.

Ok, I have a dark side vision but I still believe in the muted majority and we will put Harris-Walz over the finish line! Hopefully in a landslide!! 🙏🇺🇲

I believe most Americans want positivity and peace!

Diane1's avatar

I agree but I do think there will be turmoil and violence after the election until the inauguration with challenging the results to the max.

I sincerely hope All States were mandated by Biden to protect their voting stations! All anti Trumpers, hopefully, have enhanced their home and business security, in some way- just in case.

Cathy Lynn's avatar

i share many of your sentiments as well

Oscar Jaramillo's avatar

I absolutely agreed with you Cindy. Vance is very fearful and insecure. He tries to present himself as always be “in control” of his emotions, very scary. Yes, even scarier of his “role models.” All the ones that you mentioned and I just imagine the rest!

You have a great vision of reality and “see” things are they are. Thank you for sharing your human perspectives.

Adam, you are always amazing and inspiring!

Thank you for helping us to deal with our fears!

Beverly Smiles ga's avatar

I believe with my soul, the Biden administration has specific plans to thwart all possible subversion after the election. It will be Bidens last act for America. Get ready, for Biden using the power, the Supreme Court, thought they gave to Trump! Game Over- MAGA.

David Skoglund's avatar

I think the lead in should be, “Vance will “try” to carry Trumpism into the future.”

HollyValera's avatar

Re: Trump's having picked Vance because he's the future of the GOP, I must respectfully disagree.

Like all stupid sociopaths, Trump is incapable of thinking ahead except for how an issue, problem or opportunity will affect *him* personally, certainly not in terms of some outside organization's future trajectory or purpose. He literally can't envision anyone else's having relevance beyond whether or not they affect his own feral, rat-like ends. At the time, Vance looked good to Trump because a bunch of uber-wealthy tech-bros--especially Thiel, Vance's mentor--were ready to drop a butt-load of money into the campaign, er, I mean Trump's pockets if their guy got the nod. I suspect he's never been a fan of Vance, but saw him merely as a means to a short-sighted end.

Vance is, in the most insidious way possible, a Trojan Horse candidate. I won't be one bit surprised if in the disastrous event Trump wins, that within months after the inauguration, Vance and the rest of his Cabinet do what the tech-bros have wanted all along: invoke the 25th (probably on the grounds of Trump's "declining health" or whatever else they can come up with) and voila--we end up with a POTUS demonstrably worse than Trump. Vance, unlike Trump, will be focused and effective.

Truly, it's hard to believe, but Trump's dumb enough not to have envisioned that possibility--until very recently, I think. A President Vance would solve a bunch of the GOP's image problems world-wide while effectively gutting the Constitution and cementing the oligarchs' agenda into the near-term future.

Diane1's avatar

trump is not dumb. he is a cunning conman and bully.

Joan Bailey's avatar

He’s not dumb, just practiced at getting his way. He also but isn’t capable of complex thinking

HollyValera's avatar

You’re correct about his particular acumen; Trump does possess what my dear, departed grandmother used to call “low animal cunning.”

Michael Geline's avatar

We all agree with Mr Kinzinger on many things, but this post makes clear that I strongly disagree with him on who exactly has a friendly face!

Naively, I like to think no republicans in congress really believe all the things trump stands for. With him gone, no one will want to have to answer to one person again to keep their job. They breathe a sigh of relief, return to the former republican party, and all live happily ever after.

Mari Wilson's avatar

I don't think it's going to be that easy. Remember we have judges aaall across the country who believe his rhetoric, not to mention the blatantly corrupt SCOTUS 6. Huge game changers.

Diane1's avatar

Sadly many do believe it. Look how many signed on to deny the election results on Jan 6th. Also the party, at least since Obama, has had an increasing right wing element setting all this in motion, looking for a narcissist like trump with the ability to sway the masses to set their plan in motion. They've got the judges, the local election deniers and Project 2025 ready to go.

Cathy Lynn's avatar

"fascism with a friendly face" is so right one the money...and unfortunately it makes me physically sick to my stomach! Holding on to the believe that enough Americans do the right thing and vote for Kamala this election!!

Barb H's avatar

This is all sad, but true. When I vote, I’m pulling the All Blue lever, and praying Kamala wins. There is no Republican Party any longer-it’s now become a very scary maga world that we have to defeat!

RuthieM's avatar

Currently reading Prequel by Rachel Maddow. Her reputation as a left-leaning commentator aside, it is an eye opening historical account of fascist movements in the US, focusing on the Depression era, 1930s, leading to WW2.

Propaganda campaigns in the US were funded and orchestrated by the Germans to try to keep the US from interfering with their goals in Europe.

Never again can we become complacent and allow the other side to lull us into thinking we can trust them.

Joelle Greig's avatar

Although I don't have her book, she's definitely on my TBR list. At this time, I'm reading The Divider and Liz Cheney's book. In the pipe, I've got Adam's book: Renegade and 1939: The World We Left Behind. In The Divider, Peter Baker and Susan Glasser have written a very comprehensive account of Trump's shenanigans during his four years as occupant at the WH. I can only stomach maybe a chapter at time because of what this scumbag got away with. It's truly appalling. This guy is all kinds of insanity.

Diane1's avatar

Maddow is excellent if you want a lesson in the connection of history to today.

My own feeling is trump, Vance and all the other sell-outs, whether in his camp or abetting him in any way, if they took an oath to protect and defend our Constitution, should be charged with treason. I know how it’s defined in the Constitution but these people have declared war on the US and as a citizen, I’m choosing to take what they did and continue to do very personally.

Randy River's avatar

I recall in the debate how Vance seemed so sincere in "admitting" that the Republican party needed to get more in line with the majority of peoples' view on abortion. He was so slick in his choice of words, that you might almost believe him. But all you'd have to do would be to peel away that outer layer, and the truth would come out. He'll say anything that encourages "working across the aisle"... just to be elected. And he is adept at it. However, I am certain that everything would change (albeit, very "smoothly"), if that were to happen.

Hmm... I suddenly am reminded of the passage in the Bible (Matthew 7:15): "Beware of false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves".

Trump is the entertaining con man who MAGA has adopted as family. They love him and make excuses for his lies and forgive his trespasses. He is their Savior. That will not transfer to somebody else unless trump gives it to them and he will never do that while he is alive. After he is gone MAGA will fracture, all religions do, each faction will say they are following his true teachings.

Mari Wilson's avatar

I really, REALLY want you to be right. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

mark's avatar

He won't give it to anybody, but he might sell it to somebody.

One of the recurring concepts of any criminal investigation is "follow the money".

CE's avatar

All this is true, and yet half the country supports it. If we elect it, then we deserve it.

Mari Wilson's avatar

Totally agree. In many ways, I feel like this is America's karma.

IF ALL the votes are counted.

Jodi's avatar

Election day can't come soon enough but be prepared for official counts to come later in the week! I live in WI and actually got a mailer from Republican party to VOTE EARLY AND VOTE ABSENTEE...I was shocked because I'm pretty sure they're gonna use that old excuse for a rigged election!!

Thanks again Adam ~

Your page has helped me to remain sane as we continue to endure donold’s ongoing coup.

Your bravery & insight has been invaluable as a veteran, protector & republican. You see & experience the risks of remaining true to our country’s wellbeing, as well as brave, loyal Liz Cheney.

I don’t see jd as being able to hold onto anything…it’s hard to imagine that they did choose well in choosing him. Am I too hopeful to feel that good will prevail in our country?

Mari Wilson's avatar

Ohhh you blocked me Nurjam. Bummer. How sad.

I like your comment anyway.

Nurjam's avatar

Apologies! Truly don’t know what happened with that & glad to have you back.

YAY! I just saw your response. Odd, I didn't get a notification about it, but I'm glad I double checked. :-)

I like your comment too, but it won't let me "heart" it.
