This man can also control the speed of delivery, therefore ordering your ballot, if placed in a post office box to be delayed until after election day. You mentioned that you put your ballot in a drop box, which is provided by the way by local, county or State Elections Clerk or Secretary of State. That means that although the ballot was mailed to you by the postal system, your ballot was delivered by the other system, not by the postal service. It was delivered by a system not controlled by Trump. What Trump is proposing is having Trump decide if you can have a ballot to mail in, even if you are located overseas. He decides who gets to vote, unless you are presently home, healthy and well enough to stand in election lines on the day of the election. This elimanates everyone else, including members of the military and members who work for the government overseas, who are not hand picked to vote.

I started Crazy Cat Lady in Fairbanks in 1977 - never thought I'd fall in love with kitties have'n only grown up with dachshunds and corgis. I've had 16 at one time, well because there is was very hard to find loving homes for cats. Pet Pride of Alaska, in Fairbanks does the best that they can - far better than the kill shelter the FNSB runs.

We live in Idaho, a deep, deep Red State. I believe the Governor did hand over voters rolls when asked by the WH. So, we're screwed in that respect - but hey, we'll get out ballots! BTW - we live 50 miles from Salmon, ID, and the district we live in Lemhi County hasn't had a polling place for 20-30 years so we do get to vote by mail. In November we are not going to drive 100 miles R/T to vote in person as so the weather could be terrible.
When we lived in Fairbanks, AK, our polling place in our district was a 5 minute drive. We always went and voted in person, I loved voting in person and proudly wearing the "I Voted" stickers - some coffee shops and restaurants would actually give you .10-.25 off a cup of coffee if you wore it that day. Alaska has the coolest "I Voted" stickers - animals, scenery and more. I miss that.
My mother is 92 and is more up on current events/affairs than most people. My township now has 1 polling place for 10,000 registered voters. No way she can stand in line for hours. I hope we get this corrected.
Make your calls to your Congressional representatives AND your local voting center to find out what they suggest. Feds have no jurisdiction over states from what I grew up learning.
Last general election, there were polling stations in PA that had hours-long waits. People were struggling. The poll workers finally brought out some chairs for a few very frail people. All caused by the closing of some poll stations, forcing people to travel farther and wait longer. Just a subtle way of disenfranchising more voters.

I am about the same distance from Detroit, but still in Michigan. It took 21 days for my notice from MDHHS to get to me from Lansing about 56 miles away. That left me 9 days to complete my application for a renewal of my Medicare Extra Help benefit and get it back to them. That is another thing the Postmaster Trump appointee is messing with Seniors and the Disabled plus the Poor! I would imagine it is the same for people now needing to renew their SNAP benefits every six months too!

Ohio turned its voter rolls over in August 2025, with Frank DeRose saying anything they(the regime) wanted, they could have. So Ohioans will get their ballots, but there are other hurdles; there is only one drop box per county, one has to drop it off in person with ID.
That means that Ohio has made mail-in voting very inconvenient, which was one of the main reasons to use it. I don’t know how big your counties are, but here in California most of them are pretty big, and some are huge! It could take some people hours to drive to the one drop box in those huge counties, like the one that I live in. 😩
They are large and most are sparsely populated, but they are also older. My county has 1.3 million people and one drop box, located in the opposite corner of the county.

In November we are not going to drive 100 miles R/T to vote in person as so the weather could be terrible.
When we lived in Fairbanks, AK, our polling place in our district was a 5 minute drive. We always went and voted in person, I loved voting in person and proudly wearing the "I Voted" stickers - some coffee shops and restaurants would actually give you .10-.25 off a cup of coffee if you wore it that day. Alaska has the coolest "I Voted" stickers - animals, scenery and more. I miss that.

Where were you there? I miss the northern lights (not the -40) and the Midnight Sun and long summer days, but also not the mosquitoes!
Only recourse is to vote in person, which is not an option for everyone.
My mother is 92 and is more up on current events/affairs than most people. My township now has 1 polling place for 10,000 registered voters. No way she can stand in line for hours. I hope we get this corrected.
Make your calls to your Congressional representatives AND your local voting center to find out what they suggest. Feds have no jurisdiction over states from what I grew up learning.
I’ve been involved in get out the vote actions since 2018. And my rep and senators hear from me frequently! I won’t stop.
Last general election, there were polling stations in PA that had hours-long waits. People were struggling. The poll workers finally brought out some chairs for a few very frail people. All caused by the closing of some poll stations, forcing people to travel farther and wait longer. Just a subtle way of disenfranchising more voters.

I think so. Several western states have used extensive mail in voting for years with no problem. Limiting it is just another way to disenfranchise more voters.

My mom sent a card from Tucson Arizona to Scottsdale Arizona (a 2 hour drive between two good sized cities). It took ten days to arrive. She’s convinced they’re f-ing with the mail.
i live in Toledo Ohio and even though I am mailing a letter or bill across town, the mail has to go north to a sorting center in Detroit only to come back here to Toledo. Talk about waste! No wonder they can't balance a budget.
I am about the same distance from Detroit, but still in Michigan. It took 21 days for my notice from MDHHS to get to me from Lansing about 56 miles away. That left me 9 days to complete my application for a renewal of my Medicare Extra Help benefit and get it back to them. That is another thing the Postmaster Trump appointee is messing with Seniors and the Disabled plus the Poor! I would imagine it is the same for people now needing to renew their SNAP benefits every six months too!
They have no problem delivering junk mail. Often that’s all I get

I think you're over-simplifying Trump's attempt to squash mail-in ballot.
I live in NJ and I can guarantee that our excellent governor, Mikie Sherrill, will be in court along with Democratic counterparts nationwide in order to get an injunction against USPS cherry-picking the mail it chooses to deliver.
Might it happen? Perhaps. But the states run elections. The postal service is obligated to deliver the mail. And governors aren't going to let this happen without fighting it tooth and nail.
Judges are getting increasingly strong against this poor excuse for an administration, with several pointing out that they will no longer accord the DoJ the "assumption of regularity" that has always been granted. Might he succeed? Maybe. But I wouldn't bet on it yet.
I have no doubt Gov Whitmer will have Dana Nessel, Michigan's AG do the same! It will go to the Supreme Court in the end, and G** knows how eager Trump's Supreme Court will want to uphold the Constitution on this! He is also keeping the Slush Fund Idea alive, to keep the payroll intact to pay off the MAGA Private Army of Thugs intact and motivated to raise enough domestic violence this summer for him to declare a State of Emergency, so he has an excuse to cancel the Midterms.

How much of that was paid back to Trump in the form of kickbacks and did the contractor even get paid at all, or is it somehow in Trump's pocket too? The list goes on.

USPS proposed rule in response to Executive order 14399 is, at best, a solution in search of a problem. In fact, it is an unwarranted, unconstitutional effort by President Trump to interfere with states' constitutional right and authority to administer elections. USPS has neither the authority nor the capacity to compare mail ballots to states' lists of every voter slated to receive a ballot by mail. Refusing or failing to deliver ballots to voters whose names are not on states’ pre-approved lists will be rife with error--both the states' and USPS'--that would disenfranchise many eligible voters. including citizens living abroad, people with disabilities, rural residents, and others with limited access to physical voting sites. Election officials across the country--including in states where voting by mail is the predominant method of voting--say there is neither time nor funding to comply with this new rule before November 2026 midterm elections.

Ohio turned its voter rolls over in August 2025, with Frank DeRose saying anything they(the regime) wanted, they could have. So Ohioans will get their ballots, but there are other hurdles; there is only one drop box per county, one has to drop it off in person with ID.
That means that Ohio has made mail-in voting very inconvenient, which was one of the main reasons to use it. I don’t know how big your counties are, but here in California most of them are pretty big, and some are huge! It could take some people hours to drive to the one drop box in those huge counties, like the one that I live in. 😩
They are large and most are sparsely populated, but they are also older. My county has 1.3 million people and one drop box, located in the opposite corner of the county.
That’s totally insane and couldn’t possibly be seen as a convenience. It was obviously put into play to make voting by mail so unattractive that no one would want to choose that avenue. F’ing republicans. 🤬
Exactly, my county is a blue oasis, Cleveland is also more Democrat-leaning, but our state officials (governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General) are MAGA.
