i just spent two days volunteering to serve as an administrative assistant at my church while they search for a permanent paid person to fill the vacancy.
what broke my heart was the number of people filing in to get groceries from our free food pantry. the only phone calls i answered were from people who are hungry and need food. these people are not lazy or just looking for a handout for the hell of it. they were mostly senior citizens and/or disabled with mobility challenges. they were all so thankful.
the same thing is a daily occurrence on the neighborhood website where people post a great variety of things. people are hungry. many people are one step away from homelessness.
the people who came to the food pantry, and the people who post on the neighborhood website are so humble, and a great many say they are embarrassed to ask for food because they have never been in such a desperate situation. these are people who worked for a living, but what benefits they receive are no longer enough to sustain them.
so many people have lost their SNAP benefits and/or their medicaid. they have no medical coverage. i people i saw and spoke to are all americans from birth.
and the outrage continues. STERILIZE IMMIGRANTS COMING INTO THIS COUNTRY?! but wait! vance and other republicans talk about how our low birth rates are a danger to the future of america. gee ... one would think they would welcome immigrants adding to our population. oh, yeah, i guess the problem is the immigrants they want to ban or sterilize are the dreaded black or brown people. i guess only the white south africans who were allowed into america should have babies.

Americans should be reminded of exactly what taxpayer paid benefits senators and representatives receive, including medical care, retirement benefits, paid vacation, paid family leave, travel expenses, professional expenses and others. This information should be posted on a bill board in the home district of each senator and member of congress who has voted against or spoken against Social Security, Medicare, ACA, Medicaid, disability benefits, educational benefits, etc.
Especially when still married Ken Paxton decides to vacation in Iceland with his still married alleged mistress instead of staying on the campaign trail.
Just love when our Congress people play "dirty" and then leave for more time off. I thought they were just off not too long ago for Memorial and took 2 weeks. What a load of crap.

When politicians are so self-centered as to refer to lobster and steak while some of their constituents are having difficulty putting food on the table; they deserve the same fate as the woman who said “let ‘em eat cake!”
paid medical leave is only for the elite. Teachers have a 6 week summer vacation in which MANY have to have a 2nd job and get criticized for! Also Teachers generally have to take classes to keep their certifications. Maybe Congress AND the Administration should take CONSTITUTION classes!
