I lost my mom to Dementia earlier this year. I was her full-time caregiver. She was a high school librarian and taught creative writing, had two bachelor's degrees, two master's degrees, and was the Ohio Poet of the Year about 15 years ago. (all of which to say she was a very smart cookie!) At first it was losing words. And then how things worked. One Saturday I slept in so she made her own coffee. She put a Cascade Dishtab in the Keurig. (YIKES!) Eventually, she couldn't remember how to write or read. Or see basic objects right in front of her. But this:

It was widely predicted to cost a billion to renovate when he said $400 million. It was also widely known the funds to pay for it were diverted from another federal line item to the detriment of that program. His base needs to pay attention and elected Republicans need to be more interested in their responsibilities then their opportunities to grift along side of the president.
What is more important: 1) a billion dollars for modernization of our nuclear forces, or 2) the same billion dollars spent on a vanity project for our self-anointed king? If you answered "1" you haven't been awake for the past year and a half.

US refineries were built for very heavy, sour crude from places like, you guessed it, Venezuela. To rebuild them for light, sweet US crude is a major, time consuming, and expensive task. US oil has to be sold abroad to be refined.
Thanks for the explanation. Seems like it might be a smart thing for our country to do so we can use our own oil. But, then again, nobody in this administration is smart enough to figure it out. And the oil companies are too busy making huge profits to want to invest more money on their infrastructure so it could happen.
