Adam thank you. This country gets crazier everyday and I can see now how Hitler bought the loyalty of everyone around him while destroying Germany. Musk must be the most selfish person in the world today. Withe a trillion dollar worth he could easily give a few billion to charities to help people in distress.

Eva's avatar

Let’s just tax the hell out of him. Even Bezos said HE wouldn’t notice it.

Lorelle's avatar

Musk could actually save the entire world from disease and famine, but chooses not to.

Debbie's avatar

So musk becomes the first trillionaire, holds space x, holds starlink, AI, and holds so many contracts with the U.S. What happens is he collapses because of health/mental health issues do to his connections with ketamine etc. or other issues? Just what happens if he folds, dies or whatever? Does the world collapse? I just keep wondering.😧🙀

Corporations are people, remember? It all outlives us 😫😫😫😫😫

1000% 😡😡😡😡

I hate to be crude but F—K this guy. Seriously. He makes me ill. Such a greedy, insecure, self important sad little man and we all have to live in his sociopathy. May every single enabler get what they deserve

Eva: I'm a CRNA. Google the effects of long term Ketamine abuse on the urinary tract. Truly, it will cheer you up. It's why he's in adult diapers. I smile every time I think about it. I know money can't buy happiness. It can't buy urinary continence either. Have a nice day :)

Tina's avatar

Are you talking about drumpf or musk? I know musk abuses Ketamine, but I didn't know he wears diapers as well. Either way, it serves them both.

Pam Birkenfeld's avatar

Are you talking about Trump or Musk?

Mary VW's avatar

Did I hear that right? Lil Marco just compared putting a man on the moon to UFC putting a ring on WH lawn?😱

Kari Gunderson's avatar

I hope the weather is lousy with high humidity. thunder/lightning,,then torrential rain and high winds. Arrest all despots taking over the Lincoln Memorial during the carnival event. I don't want my tax dollars funding an improper use of a NPS helicopter fly over and hover. This whole event is tacky, disrespectful, and inappropriate. More tRUMP grifting.

Liz R's avatar

Oh, good idea! I’ll hope for terrible weather over the WH this weekend, too! ⛈️⛈️⛈️

Faith Johnston's avatar

Perfect weather forecast, high temps high humidity, torrential rains, thunderbolts and lightning…it is as you said tacky, disgusting, a recreation of the gladiators in the coliseum hope trump stay awake long enough to give his 👍👎…but still the emperor has no clothes..

RB Mc's avatar

Hey, how about a severe storm with a well timed and well aimed lightning strike? ⛈⚡⚡🌪

Liz R's avatar

Yep. He did. I wonder if the minions believe the lies and garbage coming out of their mouths, or if they’re afraid of falling out of favor and being fired. Either way, they do not have the interests of the American people in their sights.

Ed's avatar

Obviously it is just as difficult to stage a UFC fight as it was to put a man on the moon. It's just common sense, just like everything else this administration does! /s

He talks with his mouth full……

I hope everyone brushes up on the history of the French Revolution.

RRiveter's avatar

There are lots of open spaces in DC for guillotines.

Lolly Winston's avatar

Exactly!! But this is what Napoleon did after the revolution! But🤡’s behaving just like Napoleon (who totally dissed the Pope). He’s turning the historic Whitehouse into K-Mart Versailles.

Aleece Dawson's avatar

Every time he says it is over, stocks go crazy and grifters make more money. He is playing games and we are helpless to stop him because those who could are profiting from it all.

Lolly Winston's avatar

Oh, that’s a good point.

P J Johnston's avatar

The man that is in the White House lies as he speaks. Truth is he doesn't have a clue what's going on. Yes he is greedy, yes he is needy, yes he is corrupt. Everything that he claims he's doing for his "legacy" is costing way too much money or does it. It makes him richer! And in turn making all of his family richer (just think of what all that money could do for the poor in our country).

Tina's avatar

Or the poor in the world!

JC's avatar

Thank you, Adam, appreciate the news updates.

Deb Haug's avatar

Why are we giving Musk more attention for grifting and hoarding money?

Pam Birkenfeld's avatar

Because his company stock may end up in your 401(k) portfolio or other places in your portfolio because it’s on the NASDAQ, and if they have it in an index fund, you own part of it much to your dismay I’m sure.

Kari Gunderson's avatar

He needs to be DODGED out and forced to return to Australia. We don't want or need him. Waste, fraud, and abuse.

A Super El Niño will probably stack on top of the fertilizer shortage to cause catastrophic food shortages.

A lot was said about US farmers having to cut back on fertilizer. There was a better way for us to have reduced demand. A huge amount of nitrogen based fertilizer goes to making people’s lawns green and lush. It is somewhere between 10-20%. Putting a huge tax on fertilizer destined for lawns would have been the common sense solution to reduce the fertilizer shortage in the US.

Louise Purfield-Coak's avatar

You are so right! I warned fellow readers of the Parnas Perspective and Paul Krugman on Substack in early April to start stocking up on shelf stable foods like canned meats and fish and flour. I would add garden vegetables to that list during the summer. I also recommended canning and freezing your own. Already here in the Great Lakes States, the produce offered for sale at the farmers markets around my rural town are half the size of former years. Asparagus bundles are just 4 stalks. Carrots contained only 5. Last year they were bundles of10 and twelve respectively.

Louise Purfield-Coak's avatar

I suppose my favorite vender could have doubled or tripled her prices, but she chose to keep last summer prices and spread the reduced harvest around further. Rationing more or less.

crazy cat lady's avatar

thank you louise! i will start stocking up on shelf stable foods. is it too late to begin growing veggies from seeds in ohio?

Lolly Winston's avatar

Yes!! These come in handy during storms, too.

Ed's avatar

Trump will make up for the fertilizer shortage with more bullshit, which he seems have an unlimited supply of.

Emma G's avatar

So, we have a trillionaire, and we have hungry people. This makes absolutely no sense, and it should not be up to "charity" to correct this problem. Taxation is the way to correct it.

Rich Snow's avatar

EPSTEIN, EPSTEIN, EPSTEIN, EPSTEIN, EPSTEIN!

Liz R's avatar

Everything is meant to be a distraction.

Elizabeth F's avatar

All of this is just fucking disgusting. That's it. That's the comment.

Paul Schlotthauer's avatar

Oh, little Marco, little Marco. It's painful watching you abase yourself so completely, but then you don't really have anything else to do, do you, except stuff cotton in your Trump shoes so they'll fit. Of course, he had a point comparing the UFC circus to goals that no one else had dared to do or aspired to, but not in the way he meant: I'm sure it's true that no sane, competent head of state would dare to degrade themselves by throwing themselves a birthday party and staging such a ridiculous event, and no sane, competent head of state would aspire to do so.

That Elon Musk is now a trillionaire is an obscenity. My sister's friend, on the other hand, has to scrimp and scrape to afford the insulin that keeps her alive. What an immoral society we've become.

Liz R's avatar

Yet another example of unbridled greed unchecked by the government that should protect all its people, not just the rich ones: Pharma. Pharmaceutical companies charge insane prices in the US, but not in other countries because those governments regulate them. Sadly, Dr. Banting who discovered insulin, sold the patent for ONE DOLLAR because it saved lives. And now, diabetics stretch their doses, skip other necessities, and become sicker:all preventable.

It's Come To This's avatar

On top of news about a stark escalation in food prices and shortages of fertilizer worldwide comes news that this year's El Niño will be particularly intense, leading to drought in places like East Africa, which already suffers from fragile ecosystems and food insecurity, even without dramatic escalations of drought and heat.

Ellen Snyder's avatar

He's going to be starting WW3 if he keeps up this garbage.. he's so insecure about what to do and his "aides" are leading him down the wrong path.

Liz R's avatar

Oh yes. With the upheaval he’s created in the world, and especially the Middle East (always a conflict simmering and boiling over occasionally for decades), it will only take one spark to set off WWIII. Think Franz Ferdinand.

Stephanie's avatar

Great take on all this Adam... I thought Rubio's comparison to the moon landing was a further stretch than the moon's distance itself :)
