Our Billionaires want to control our government. The politicians refusal to End Citizens United has turned our government into a transactional corrupt system where the politicians choose their voters.
And the Supreme Courtβs immunity decision has ZERO basis in law!
Campaign finance reform and replacing the court members that are breaking our constitutional system is what is needed.
The alternative I am afraid is taking back control of our country by any means necessary to secure our constitutional system.
That is true. It is one of many things that must be changed. However, Kasparov is correct in the message "Ukraine must win." If it takes a massive air attack by the free world NATO, SEATO, etc., it must be done. Hit bases and manufacturing in one lethal coordinated blow that leaves even neucular retaliation deeply damaged. That is the message for the resistance. Putin knows it and is actively fighting an active intelligence campaign against it.
Great interview Adam. Can we arrange to have Mr. Kasparov give President Trump a briefing on the Ukraine situation? Probably wouldnβt help despite Kasperovβs keen insight. Couple quick points: I thought that Russiaβs war economy was running into some serious limitations and that the war was causing worsening economic hardship in Russia. This might not mean much since in dictatorships the people suffer what they must with little recourse, as was the case during the Second World War under Stalin. Wholeheartedly agree that America has let the world down with Trumpβs shameful amoral stance on this war. What would Ronald Reagan have done if faced with the same situation?
Couple of things... While it's true that Russia ran into some issues, economically, from the sanctions, because they couldn't get foreign equipment, components, and maintenance services anymore.
HOWEVER... Russia is propped up by its allies: Iran, China, North Korea, India. And, unlike the US, where Congress can sit for six months denying aid to Ukraine, Russia's allies deliver quickly. Russia says they need drones? They get drones. They need some fresh meat to throw at the front lines? They get it. And so on.
There is also the shadow fleet that continues dealing in Russian oil. Oil tankers that travel under the flags of other countries, buying, transporting, and selling Russian oil. This too had created a very steady income stream.
The last but not the least, majority of Russian public is fanatically devoted to Putin. Much like North Koreans are devoted to their leader. If you go on Telegram and read Russian forums, people are literally saying they will eat sh*t for Putin if they have to. They are convinced they have the most free country in the world. They celebrate when Russia hits another Ukrainian kindergarten.
My parents live in Zaporizhzhya. We used to have friends in Russia - in Kursk, Moscow, St. Petersburg. When war first began, my parents tried to explain to their Russian friends what was happening and they were not believed. No matter how many sources of information they provided. So, personally.... I don't have a lot of hope for an internal upheaval in Russia - something sufficiently strong to overthrow Putin. In fact... there is a fun fad among Russians - they cite one of their reasons to dislike Ukrainians being Ukrainians not coming to Russia to carry out a revolution there before they did it at home. I am not joking. According to these people, its Ukrainians' fault they got invaded, because they overthrew Yanukovich instead of going to Russia and overthrowing Putin.
Thanks for another insightful interview. Especially enlightening for me is that Russia will not tolerate a democratic Ukraine and there's not going to be a negotiated peace. Ukraine is so brave.
In one of the biggest attacks yet (nearly 600 projectiles, including drones and ballistic missiles), Russia had just struck a US business - Flex Electronics (headquartered in Texas) - in south-western Ukraine. The building was trashed and 15 people were wounded. Will this make a difference with American public in terms of their attitude?
This is the best explanation of the situation Iβve heard. Thank you so very much. We need a much larger plan than to just get Trump out of power. When Kasparov said plans being made in Europe to fight Russia in a few years, and they arenβt taking down Russian drones for fear of escalation, when will we all wake up?
Agreed, wonderful interview Adam. I really appreciate Garryβs insights into Putinβs thinking. I agree with Shawn again that The Orange Man could benefit from Kasparovβs knowledge if we wasnβt in Putinβs pocket already. The West canβt afford to be so tentative now. Garry provided several good reasons why we should get involved now in Ukraineβs fight rather than waiting for Russia to attack another country. Thanks for asking all of those great questions!
Thank you for this interview. So much excellent information for the lay person. Sadly, weβre not doing anywhere near enough. Freedom in the world is at stake. We need real leaders in this country! Where are they?
Excellent conversation! And i agree / the goal is how do we assist Ukraine in winning?
We should credit Biden for doing so much - restoral of shattered NAO, arms, intell, etc., while armchair critiquing did he do enough or was he too restrained. You have to acknowledge two things :
1) biden was convinced putin would use field nukes until biden backed him down in fall 22. Why? Our intel, which he used to warn Ukraine & NATo about the pending invasion, also revealed soviets were implementing plans to put them to use (ie not Trump saber rattling)
2) mike Johnson stopped funding for 7 months at direction of trump. Biden didnβt break the law and impound other funds like trump is now doing to FEMA as he was an institutionalist. Would you have broken the law?
Note / half if the country / maga is rabid about not sending boots on ground after middle east wars.
The nuke issue is bogus. Thereβs not a country on this planet (except maybe North Korea) that would use them because they know theyβll be immediately attacked with even greater force by the country being attacked or by its allies Of course once Biden foolishly admitted fear of Russia was behind his limiting how and where Ukraine could use US weapons, Putin knew he could do anything he wanted and the US wouldnβt respond. Biden gave him a green light even faster than Trump did.
Yes, there is a real difference of opinion on whether Russia would have deployed tactical nukes if Biden didnβt strongly oppose and stop him.
And same difference of opinion on Russia escalation if he had provided advanced weapons or no restrictions immediately.
I am inclined to believe our intelligence that Russia WAS going to use tactical nukes consistent with their policy, and that Biden administration should have rallied us around surged weapons like we were at war. Perhaps he promised to defend, not attack by getting putin to back off tactical nuke weapons. Do recall, you need a) trained soldiers and b) secure supply lines, which Gen Austin & Milley said wasnβt in place
Putin is bombing the crap out of Ukraine, and now we find North Korea has built a missal site that has missals that can reach the US...yes, US, we, you, me...and it's a safe bet that Putin helped him. North Korea has sent troops to fight in Ukraine and are ready to send more and that orange, slimy wimp, cry baby, do nothing orange monster is fiddling in the oval office as Putin does as he pleases.
Donald adores him, begs for his approval, and Putin gives him the smirky side eye. MAGA congress members sing a chorus of Kumbaya.
Biden could have done WAY more. He waited much too long to send Ukraine what they requested, AND Obama let him have Crimea. Bush saw his soul. They were ALL weak with Russia.
Powerful and refreshing to hear such candor and strategic thinking! So different from the wishy-washiness our βleadersβ offer us. Thanks for this interview, Adam. Iβm signing up for Kasparovβs Substack.
Vance says taken over D.C. Police could serve as a model for other cities. He's nuttier than a fruit cake. This is the clown who said women should have more babies. The Felon, Trump, and Vance, are two peas in a pod no ifs, ands, or buts.
Citizens United is the root cause which has allowed corporations and billionaires to take control on the House of Representatives!
Don't we control billions of Russian dollars that could be released to Ukraine for their defense?

It wouldn't work. Trump doesn't think he needs any briefings. He thinks he knows more than anyone else about anything!

Thank you Maria K for this insight.
We have a corrupt Supreme Court that is ruling not based on the rule of law but based on their extreme Christian Nationalist Ideology.
There is no way that the founders would be in alignment with allowing a president to be considered above the law.
Also there is no way that they would have allowed corporations to claim the same rights as individuals!
The rest of this discussion is just describing the symptoms of what is are experiencing now!
Thanks for another insightful interview. Especially enlightening for me is that Russia will not tolerate a democratic Ukraine and there's not going to be a negotiated peace. Ukraine is so brave.
Slava Ukraini!

Great video and re enforces why it's so important to all the democracies in the world and NATO that Ukraine is victorious. Slava Ukraine!!

Chinese gas station with nukes...Beautiful analogy!

I apologize for "piling on" another comment, but I had to add this:
I just signed up for Garry Kasparov's The Next Move on Substack.
His is an important voice that needs to be heard and BROADCAST far and wide.
Thanks again, Adam for a GREAT interview.
